Sister of slain federal protective officer tells Congress calls to defund police 'ridiculous'

The sister of a federal protective officer in Oakland who was fatally shot during a protest for George Floyd that turned violent told Congress on Wednesday calls to defund the police are "ridiculous".

"It is a ridiculous solution to claim that defunding police departments is the solution to police brutality and discrimination because it's not a solution. It gets us nowhere as a nation and removes the safety net protection that every citizen deserves from their communities elected officials," Angela Underwood Jacobs said at the House Judiciary Committee's hearing on proposed changes to police practices on Capitol Hill.

Jacobs' brother, Patrick Underwood, was stationed in front of the U.S. Courthouse in Oakland Calif., on May 29 when a vehicle pulled up the building and opened fire at him and another contract security officer who both worked for Homeland Security's Federal Protective Service. Underwood was killed while the second officer was wounded.

Too bad she couldn’t have pointed at Ben Crump and said: “Your lies and hateful rhetoric are responsible for his death!”

I think it is a long time for us patriotic Americans to have giant rallies in support of the police we should name all the incredible things that they do for society all the lives that they save all of the heroic actions that they take every single day that never go noticed never get talked about

She is obviously speaking from her white privilege... hey, wait a minute.

More seriously, the media is arguing that this is a literal black and white issue. I suspect that many (not a majority, but many) African-American voters are fed up with Democrat failure after failure. But can’t speak up due to the virtual (and in some cases actual) mobs shouting down opposition. Rasmussen has Mr Trump at 40% black approval, if that holds up and even if only half of them vote for Trump, he will take states like Minnesota and hold almost all his 2016 states.

Maybe it’s a pipe dream, but thats just my $0.02.

Patrick Underwood was buried in Novato last week with no press attention at all.

Jason Gutzwiller - possibly killed by Underwood’s killer - will maybe get more coverage, but still no one is playing it up like Death of Floyd.

Just Lives That Don’t Matter to the rioter party.

How about that blacks don’t want to be accountable for their crimes anymore seems to be the drumbeat they’re beating.

Here’s what I saw and heard on FOX. I listened to Nadler, I listened to the brother of George Floyd, I listened to the “brilliant Yale/Obama chick (who almost immediately threw Trump under the bus claiming the programs Obama had in place were all unfortunately stopped by Trump, thus blaming Floyd’s death on Trump)

Then it was Kevin McCarthys chance to respond and the statement from Underwood. SADLY, Sandra Smith stopped following the hearing, immediately after the lefties spoke, and went to her guest pundits who were also lefties. So I turned it off.

I think defunding the police is a great idea. The first communities to see it should be Santa Clara,California...Scarsdale,New York...and the Georgetown section of DC.From there it should spread to the Virginia and Maryland suburbs of DC,Bella Pelosi’s neighborhood in San Fransicko and all of Los Angeles County.

This officer, Patrick Underwood, was black.
Many MSM stories failed even to mention that fact or even show his photo, and I haven’t seen any media coverage of his funeral.

Someone needs to do a major story of all the cops & civilians killed by the rioters.

Plus another story is needed detailing EVERY cop killed in the last 10 years in the line of duty.
Then put the number of cops out there, next to the number of blacks killed by cops in the same time frame.
