Hero from Paris train attack running to unseat liberal Oregon Democrat: 'He votes with AOC 96 percent of the time'

A veteran who helped stop a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train in 2015 is running for Congress in Oregon, telling "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday that liberal Democrat Peter DeFazio "doesn't represent" the rural district anymore.

Alek Skarlatos, a veteran of the Army National Guard who served in Afghanistan, said he became interested in politics after speaking with his state senator on a plane to Washington, D.C. and was encouraged to consider running for office.

"I did some research and the more I learned about the [4th Congressional District] and everything that happened to it under the tenure of Peter DeFazio, the angrier I got," he told host Ainsley Earhardt.

This district is the coastal district....mostly all white, and 55 percent white-collar. Lot tourism and logging in the area.

Over 30 years, GOP has never done better than 40-percent in elections. But if you get back to the 1960s to 1970s....solid Republican area.

Skarlatos doesn’t stand a chance. I read somewhere that he picked on a poor Muslim guy while on a train.

I have friends who grew up in Oregon and they have told me that most Oregon natives are appalled at the turn the state has taken, due to boatloads of Libs moving into Portland and Eugene. And then spreading out from there. East of the Cascades has always voted Republican, but of course, the Leftists have destroyed the coastal and Willamette Valley areas of Oregon.

I like Skarletos. I hope he can persuade those virtue-signaling Leftists that he will do the law abiding citizens of that District well. I HOPE there is a majority of law abiding citizens there.......we will see.

Eugene is in the 4th District. That’s a problem. DeFazio has always claimed to be pro- Stefan, and he locks down the labor unions in the area. I would hope that some of the legacy Democrats are waking up.

I’d love to see a few blue districts (that one, CT-5, CT-2 and others) flip...

A district that should be electing Republicans, but hasn’t since 1972. Tying 34-year incumbent DeFazio to the Portlandia/Seattle Stalinazis should be paramount. The GOP should do that with every single, solitary incumbent.

Eugene is in the 4th District.

If the college doesn't reopen before the election, Skarlatos might have a chance.

As long as the Oregon 4th has Lane County and Corvallis then it’ll remain Democrat. The incumbent wins by between 15 and 20 points.
