President Trump said he has authorized federal law enforcement to arrest those caught vandalizing memorials and charge them under the Veterans' Memorial Preservation and Recognition Act.
"I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent," the president tweeted Tuesday morning.

I live in a medium-sized, wealthy town and everyone around here said the same thing: “It’ll never happen here!”
A couple of weeks ago, I was returning from the vet and noticed police cars along all the freeway exits - a neighbor told me a few minutes later all the freeway exits were blocked (into our town). Apparently there was a rumor that looters, rioters and other thugs were headed our way after announcing they were “taking it to the suburbs.”
Fortunately we have good cops here who arrested a couple car loads of them with looting equipment in backpacks - crowbars (for taking down plywood), hammers and other such tools. Not so much as a single window was broken.
There was no rioting and looting here. There will be no rioting or looting here.
Because the useless Mayor Bowser the racist bicXX pig would't do anything.
More likely a “dramatic” turn. If these leftists invade suburbs likely there will be a dramatic shooting of guns at night.

Local sheriff has publicly stated “That will not happen here”. I talk to him from time to time during his part-time job at our local gun shop. He is moving the department from 9mm to .45 cal pistols. Seems like a truthful guy and he has quite a local pool of talent to draw upon to back him up. I bought a membership at the gun shop nd live fire weekly at their indoor range and use their video training scenarios. Got to inculcate muscle and brain memory.
One of the guys in my neighborhood does reenactment in Gettysburg every year. Even got to be in Picketts charge in the movie Gettysburg as a Yankee. The last couple years there have been concerns about protesters.
Toothless law and policy when federal judges friendly to the protestors will not give them a sentence or will dismiss the cases.
Eight years of Obama selective non-enforcement, and they’ve become used to just sitting on their hands.
According to Chris Plante and FoxNews this morning, the Washington Post did not even cover the riots in Lafayette Park last night. WaPo front page picture was of an almost empty movie theater.
If WaPo and NYTimes don't cover something, for millions of Americans it did not happen.
