A federal judge has ruled Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear went too far in limiting in-person protests at the Capitol during the coronavirus pandemic.
U.S. District Judge Greg Van Tatenhove said Wednesday in a 24-page order that Beshear must amend his mass gatherings order to allow for in-person protests. Despite the order, several large gatherings have been held outside the Capitol in recent months, at least one of which Beshear attended himself.
A large rally is planned Thursday outside the Capitol to call for police reforms and remember Breonna Taylor, a woman shot and killed in March by Louisville police as they carried out a no-knock search warrant.
The judge said the change must be done in a manner consistent with the medical and scientific realities, while bearing in mind the constitutional protections accorded such behavior.
The judge did not say what such an order might include. The U.S. Court of Appeals said last month that the Beshear administration may not ban protesters from gathering for drive-in and drive-through protests at the Capitol, provided they practice social distancing.

How low can you go?
Don't say that! They take that as a challenge.
Banning church gatherings are OK though...
What’s a breonna?
Is it the name of a new cheap wine?
Obviously not.
Have they gone to court yet?
But bans on churches are OK, right?
Not at all
They need to sue
So what that judge has done...perhaps without realizing it...is to invalidate every “quarantine” type order issued by that Governor.
Where was this federal judge when protesters from our side practically shut down Lansing, MI? Or do I really need to ask?
Can’t go to church though.
That would be too dangerous.
My thoughts exactly
Went to a full Communion mass today but Indiana has Republican governor!
I think beshear is a tool, but, really, why do we even need governors, mayors, presidents, legislatures, Congress. Just let the robed wise men rule everything and cut out the unnecessary middlemen.
But I thought John Roberts ruled that the Bill of Rights doesn’t apply if little boy governors declare an “emergency”.
There are some evil judges out here.. being a judge and being 100% wrong and not recalled or impeached... some power they have!.. and it should be stripped.
My son is a lawyer in nj and the firm has several..ALL are liberal except my son. It seems to seep onto them.. to be conservative would be a drag on a career... my son got over that years ago..he’s a defender of the right side of politics... a conservative.. the only one there.
It’s the name of someone who even the police admit they shot by mistake in a no-knock raid.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m glad for the ruling.
But did the judge really need to expound on the ruling by going 24 pages long?!
You start to wonder if the judge is writing for a future appeals court or Supreme Court appointment...?
I think it would be better as the name of a wine.
This idiot is probably the dumbest SOB to ever sit in the governors office in KY. Whats sadder is the public teachers of KY put him there after his daddy stole the biggest part of their pension. I have to wonder whos the biggest idiot, the public school teachers or junior. They would stand on one leg and bark like dogs if he told them to. Ive never heard of Royal ass kisser but the public school teachers qualify in this regard, they literally worship this buffoon, hes their god.
Junior really thinks he can rule by Royal decree. But I have to say the Republican controlled legislature have been weak and pathetic in their response to junior, hell they have offered no response period. The AG and citizens filing law suits has been his only opposition.
