Horowitz: Border state surge: Rise in serious southwestern cases driven by border-crossers from Mexico
cr ^ | 6/26/20 | Daniel Horowitz

Why should Americans in border states have to go back into lockdown and be treated like criminals by a government that failed to lock down the border when Mexico experienced its worst surge of coronavirus in late May?

Despite the mounting evidence that the worst part of the surge in the southwest is the result of cross-border travel beginning in May, government officials continue to act as if this is a domestic problem and that somehow Americans have been careless in mitigating the virus. They are using the results of their failure to lock down the border as a pretext to lock down Americans. Talk about chutzpah.

Nobody captured the essence of what is going on at the border better than Brownsville public health director Arturo Rodriguez. While explaining the rising cases and even deaths, he recently said, “In other words, you have three rates: the U.S., Mexico and your border rate.”

America experienced its peak in March and April. Mexico experienced its peak in May and June. The border states, which were barely affected by the original American epidemiological curve, are now getting nailed by Mexico’s curve.

Just how prominent is the surge on the border relative to the rest of the country? Data analyst and sportscaster Kyle Lamb, who joined my podcast last Friday, prepared a chart showing the rise in cases over 21 days through June 23:

What you see is an unmistakable surge in southern California, southern Arizona, and the Rio Grande Valley counties in southeast Texas, which all share a border with the towns in Mexico that were hardest hit beginning in late May. The other counties flagged in the interior of the country are mainly small rural counties that have state or federal prisons, and the numbers are dramatically distorted by those counts, as states tested prisons

Florida is getting nailed hard too though. Forgive my ignorances as a northerner, although I have been to Florida many times, I always assumed it’s latinx populations were moreCuban and Puerto Rican, comparatively speaking.

Florida used to have a large cuban population but those folks have moved on.

Nowadays the latin pop is mostly Colombians, Guatamalens, Salvadorans, and Hondurans. And a few Mexicanos and Venezuelans.

Time For NATIONAL DISTANCING - from the ChiCom Plague Pit

That includes carriers from Mexico - Typhoid Manuels ...

.

Reminder - Look how easily Pelosi and the other Tax & Squanders tossed out 10 Trillion (which BTW MOSTLY went to government and not to Citizens) but REFUSED over and over a few Billion to build the Border Wall.

Time to SLOW WALK Pelosi & CO OUT OF OFFICE.

Heavily militarize the border. Should have been done decades ago.

Wealthy countries like Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy, etc. should provide for there own defense. Re-deploy American troops to the border.

Actually, it's the counties showing the rise in cases which are suspect...not the ocean border;

The FIU data shows clear and concerning hospitalization trends are emerging in South Florida: Miami-Dade, Broward County, Palm Beach County,

Our idiot healthcare director , in a news conference, welcomed people from mexico by saying they would get free healthcare just like citizens. Since then our county has gone from the lowest infection rate in the state to the highest.

We went from 25 cases from the beginning in Jan through mid last month to over 5,000. The cases are 70% hispanic males 20 to 45 and 2,500 of them are in two border communities within 3 miles of the border.

This is social suicide by white coat do-gooders and it is criminal in its negligence towards our community's public health.

In Arizona the greatest jump has been at Mexico border counties of Santa Cruz and Yuma, and on the Navajo Res.

We are experiencing this in the Coachella Valley in eastern Riverside County, California. Mexicans with the virus are coming across the border into Imperial County which is the agricultural county east of San Diego. As Imperial County is sparsely populated, the small community hospitals cannot handle the flow, and the Mexicans are being transported to the Coachella Valley where our hospitals have experienced a near tripling of the Corona virus patients the past couple of weeks.
