Gov Inslee WA faults Trump for failing to push masks amid "critical" COVID resurgence

Washington Governor Jay Inslee faulted President Trump for failing to urge Americans to wear masks amid a surge in coronavirus infections in more than two dozen states, likening Mr. Trump's resistance to masks to Alabama governor and segregationist George Wallace's opposition to integration.

"Right now, we are in an urgent national mission, or should be, to mask up," Inslee, a Democrat, said on "Face the Nation." "And the fact is that Donald Trump is for masking up like George Wallace was for integration."

Inslee said universal masking is crucial to reopening states' economies, and added that "all of us should be on that bandwagon right now."

It’s appropriate for the President to defer policy tactics to those departments empowered to specialize in those policies.
The CDC said “don’t use masks”, so appropriate for the President to defer to that expert opinion.

This is also a free country, so every d@mn one of you should be smart enough to wear masks as you deem fit. POTUS may _advise_ wise (or moronic) action, but it’s up to y’all to act as you see best fit.

In between, governors and mayors are certainly empowered to advise their jurisdictions as circumstances dictate. As example, it was entirely up to Gov Inslee to advise residents of Washington to, or to not, wear masks amid “critical” COVID resurgence. By now everyone has appropriate information (if you lack it, check your state at rt.live - if the Rt number is >1, stay the **** home and wear a **** mask).
