What kind of person would become a police officer right now? Thats a question cops across the country are asking. Some say they wouldnt do it themselves if they were making the choice now. Others say theyd discourage their children from following in their footsteps. But this is about more than how police are treated; its time to wonder what this sinking morale will mean for all of the communities that rely on the police for their safety and security.
The number of new applicants at police departments across the country had been plummeting for some time but may reach crisis levels as national anti-police sentiment grows, stoked by a wave of protests in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd.
A 2019 survey by the Police Executive Research Forum found that fewer people were becoming police officers and more officers were taking early retirement. Sixty-six percent of police departments nationwide reported a drop in recruitment numbers. The study called it a crisis. A year later, it threatens to become a full-blown catastrophe.
Rory, 22, lives on Long Island and has always wanted to be a police officer. Hes exactly the kind of smart, calm-under-pressure, composed young man we all would want on the job. He has one year left of college before he planned to apply. But the last month has rattled him, and hes no longer sure of his path. Police are becoming targets, making the job more unsafe than it already is, he told me. Police had been shot at in nearby Rockaway, Queens, the day before our mid-June conversation.

...well see a lot of vigilante justice. And what are people gonna do about it? Call the cops? Remember, in the end the police arent there to protect the public from criminals, theyre there to protect criminals from the public. Communities dealt with crime long before police were invented, usually in rather harsh and low-due-process ways. The bargain was, let the police handle it instead. No police, no bargain.
Someone who would be looking for and wanting a “legitimate” fight and hope to take out a bad guy or two.
Watch The Moment After 1 and 2. It will show what eventually law enforcement turns into. Good watch. I saw them both about 20 years ago and my sister sent me this link on Sunday. Is certainly more applicable for these times in America. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QeZYtApatY
If there are no or very few lawman, then it will become the wild wild west.
Pray the good cops stay on (which is lost of them), or We the People will really have a problem.
Most of them
What is it about? There is no description.
That article was totally unreadable thanks to the Examiner’s ads causing unwanted page scrolling. The content was good, but yikes... It took an extra five minutes to read because ads just kept loading and reloading.
There’s a lot more to the USA than the decrepit Democrat-run s-holes working so hard to defund law and order.
There are plenty of cops in prosperous communities throughout the nation who are appreciated and fairly compensated by those who they keep safe.
If there are no or very few lawman, then it will become the wild wild west.

I think more like Mad Max.
With deblasio taking 1 billion away from cops there’s no July recruiting class.
Pray the good cops stay on (which is lots of them), or We the People will really have a problem.
I suspect many cops will leave, or leave big cities and become policemen in more peaceful small towns and smaller cities. It’s possible that few white people will want to be policemen in cities with big black populations. Probably politically incorrect to say something like that.
It’s not bad cops, even good cops make mistakes when they are under extreme stress and making what they think are life saving decisions. Everything looks better in hindsight. What “good cop” wants to do this job knowing the night he misinterprets information and makes a mistake he will wind up in prison, sued, vilified by the media...
[ Watch The Moment After 1 and 2. ]
Great movies. I used to talk with the movie director brother of the guy who directed both of those. Haven’t chatted with him in a long time.
The Moment After the Rapture . . . Really well done movies considering 20 years ago technology.
Bkmk
Ironically, these policies will lead to police departments being filled with “bad apples.” The only people who will want to become police officers will be bully boys who get their kicks using the authority of a badge to intimidate citizens or criminals who seek to infiltrate and subvert police departments.
Almost as bad as they treat normal citizens who have to defend themselves.
Cops are out because we are entering the big brother government control of all our lives..I think it will come quickly..
