Anyone remember the big fire that swept several blocks of San Francisco back in the late 1970s or early 1980s?

It was in the news for a couple of days, then the story suddenly disappeared.

Rumor had it that the fire department found young men chained to the walls and “dungeons”, and had to call in more fire alarms as their people were trying to cut the captives free while also fighting the fire.

OMG, I lived in SF from 1970 until 1985 and have absolutely no memory of that at all. And I was young, out and about all day, every day, interacting with all kinds of people, was addicted to the news, even local news, knew all kinds of cops and saw them and spoke to them three or four times a week, but... I’m drawing a total blank on that one!

Scoot over, Biden!
