Hagia Sophia: Pope "Pained" as Instanbul Museum Reverts to Mosque

Pope Francis has said he's "pained" by Turkey's decision to convert Istanbul's Hagia Sophia back into a mosque.

Speaking at a service in the Vatican, the Roman Catholic leader added that his "thoughts go to Istanbul".

Hagia Sophia was built as a Christian cathedral nearly 1,500 years ago and turned into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of 1453.

The Unesco World Heritage Site became a museum in 1934 under Turkish Republic founding father Ataturk.

But earlier this week a Turkish court annulled the site's museum status, saying its use as anything other than a mosque was "not possible legally".

Will this lead Pope Francis to reconsider his coddling of Islam and his loud denunciations of "Islamophobia"? Of course not!

Not possibly legal?? Even though it was built as a CHRISTIAN CATHEDRAL???

Coming to a country that we love, if we don’t win in November.

Pained?
“Thoughts go to Istanbul”?

It’s Sunday. I’ll offer it up.

He’s not pained because a Christian museum has been removed, he’s pained that Turkey has stepped back away from secular globalism and reasserted it’s national/cultural values.

I’m frankly surprised that none of the great cathedrals of Western Europe have been turned into mosques yet, especially in countries most overrun by Arabs and Africans like Belgium, Holland, and France.

Assuming Francis really is “pained” by the decision rather than just paying lip service, your explanation is probably the correct one.

They’re not stupid, they won’t engage in that kind of triumphialism while they’re still a minority.

Right now they’re trying to get the Cordoba cathedral to be dual-use in Spain. I imagine this will happen elsewhere.

Muslim minorities in Europe seem to have a way of causing social and political problems vastly out of proportion to their numbers. If they can insist that school or other public cafeterias not serve pork products, they’ll soon insist on removing “infidel” places of worship.

If I recall correctly, Turkey is a majority Muslim country, but has been a secularized country, up until now. That’s why the Hagia Sophia was a museum and not a mosque.

I suspect that militant Muslims are having greater influence in Turkey nowadays, which has resulted in this action.

Many churches in America, particularly Catholic churches, have closed down in recent years. This has happened due to declining populations in some areas, along with declining membership of churches. I’ve heard that Catholic parishes have been consolidated in many places, leaving unoccupied church properties. Some of those properties have been sold off.

I would not be surprised if some of those old churches becomes mosques.

Pope Francis is merely “pained”? How can anyone anywhere take this guy seriously?

By the way, I’m writing a script for a remake of the movie ‘Titanic’.

Titanic lookout: “”We’ve just hit an iceberg!”
Captain Francis: “I am pained.”
Titanic lookout: “”What should we do?”
Captain Francis: “Nothing. It’s no big deal.”

NO.

He’s been paid off.

Start this at 3:53 and move your cursor to skip past the commercials. Italian journo explains the problem and you’re not gonna like it:

THIS Catholic is waiting for Cardinal Sarah of Africa to be elevated to the papacy.

The sooner Francis goes, the better. He’s the closest thing to the Antichrist I’ve seen in the Catholic Church in my life, and I gently wish he would croak tomorrow.

And I’m not kidding one bit.

The Cathedral of Cordoba is known variously as “the Great Mosque of Cordoba” or “the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba.” It is properly known to Christians as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption. The site, prior to Islamic conquest, was the Christian basilica of Saint Vincent Lérins.
Will Hagia Sophia be called “The Cathedral Mosque of Constantinople” or “the Great Cathedral of Constantinople”?
Didn’t think so.

Peter Hammond has written about what happens in a country as the percentage of Muslims increases. It’s an informative, but depressing, read. Here’s the percentage breakdown.

Oh dear, Francis is pained.

He wasn’t pained when muslims murdered Catholic priests and nuns in Africa.

The Pope should raise an army and take back Constantinople from the Turks.
