Not comparable. Hong Kong was leased from China by the UK.We loved their democracy. Now it’s gone, reverting to the CCP who owns it by treaty.
Taiwan is independent. To take it over requires an invasion. US will not permit that. We stopped Saddam in Kuwait and Taiwan is a closer ally.
We have overwhelming superiority in the air and sea. They will lose their whole navy if they attempt to invade.
That’s under Trump. All bets are off under a Democrat.
