A New York City councilman said he feared for his life until hydroxychloroquine helped him recover from his coronavirus infection.
Councilman Paul Vallone, a Democrat, told the New York Post that he took hydroxychloroquine, a drug known for treating malaria, while he fell ill with COVID-19 in March. He claimed that the drug saved his life and thanked President Trump for raising awareness about the medication.
"At that time, there was only fear and panic, he offered hope in a possible treatment when there was none. With my sarcoidosis and then my COVID symptoms, It basically saved me. For that, my family will always be thankful," Vallone said.
Vallone said he struggled with severe symptoms after contracting the virus.
"I couldn’t breathe, very weak, couldn’t get out of bed. My doctor prescribed it. My pharmacy had it. Took it that day and within two to three days, I was able to breathe,” Vallone said. “Within a week, I was back on my feet.”
"We were in panic mode when I went down because I didn’t have a lot of immune response,” he later added. “I needed something to stay alive.”
Hydroxychloroquine, which has been tested as a safe drug for diseases such as malaria and lupus, has not been proven to treat the coronavirus. However, there has been anecdotal evidence of its success. Trump's promotion of the drug has led to criticism from those who note that it is not proven to treat COVID-19.
“I guess all those doctors who are prescribing it are right. This drug is already on the market, and the patent is up, so it’s cheap. A new drug won’t be. So, big money does not want this drug to be used. Always follow the money," Vallone said. "[It] saved my life."

In April, Michigan Democratic lawmaker, Karen Whitsett of Detroit says Hydroxychloroquine saved her life .
She took the initiative to go to Washington DC to meet Trump to personally thank him for making the drug known to her.
The result was -- she was censured by her own party and other party members were barred from endorsing her for doing this.

Make HCQ, Zinc Sulfate and Azithromycin OTC drugs so if a patient develops a cough and/or fever he can take the OTC drugs within 48 hours of symptom onset. Pandemic over. If a patients waits to see a physician and several more days to get test results, patient dead if over 70 years of age. In the meantime, take a Zicam twice a day..........

He’s a Dem and Im glad that the meds made him better..I can only imagine how many people in this country could have been saved if it was NOT for politics..because President Trump said this drug could work, the commie media had to make it out to be some horrible medication..they did NOT want to give Trump the satisfaction of being right..can hydroxy work for everyone, of course not..but everyone should have been on it once diagnosed or have symptoms, so many could have been saved
No he’s not a big keys but his district is the same district in Queens where Trump was from. So basically he represents the range of working class to wealthy mostly white areas. He’s likely a Democrat the same way Trump was a Democrat, because in New York City basically have to be in order to be in any powerful social network that matters.

AMEN, I’m with you. I was on a ventilator for 5 days many years ago, not for covid but another problem. I would gladly risk any HCQ side effects if it would keep me off a ventilator.
I wonder how many Dem pols have been saved...that aren’t coming forward?
