"We are not to reconnect any machines that have previously been disconnected."
Shortly after USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy issued a public statement saying he wanted to "avoid even the appearance" that any of his policies would slow down election mail, USPS instructed all maintenance managers around the country not to reconnect or reinstall any mail sorting machines they had already disconnected, according to emails obtained by Motherboard.
"Please message out to your respective Maintenance Managers tonight. They are not to reconnect / reinstall machines that have previously been disconnected without approval from HQ Maintenance, no matter what direction they are getting from their plant manager," wrote Kevin Couch, Director of Maintenance Operations. "Please have them flow that request through you then on to me for a direction." A subsequent email sent...

This issue of not running a mail sorting line is likely due to contracts for the equipment and maintenance cost.
I think that’s called sabotage...
Is the actual scheme here to delay the delivery of mail in votes, blame trump somehow for the delay, delay the counts, deny the timely meeting of the electoral college, and throw the election to the House of Representatives, which would then continue to be under the control of Pelosi?
is odd...I’m in a Cleveland suburb and seen nothing.
Not all mail sorting machines can run the ballots. Usually, only the flats sorting machine can run them. The letter sorting machines usually only handles small letters, like the size you use to mail checks for bills. Does the mail specify which machines were disconnected?
That.
And the lines probably had problems needing expensive repair before they were shut down. Many parts can only be gotten from the manufacturer who charges ‘the Moon’.
Yep, you got it. You can figure as a minimum, there’s going to be twenty states that can’t complete the requirement for the Electoral College. The House will meet (with a new incoming crowd) in January.
The problem here, the voting mess will extend to House members as well, and I would imagine at least two-dozen members unable to get verified as the winner.
All of this will lead to a 2021 drama of re-writing the Constitution...to attempt a change eliminating the Electoral College. But at the same time, the discussion will center on a national ID card, and permanently eliminating mail-in-ballots.
If you thought things were screwed up now....just wait, it’s going to be ten times worse.
I dunno what it all means. There was an article a day or so ago specifically regarding Seattle machines being shut down but the reason given was simply because of lack of business mail - they didn’t need them.
But since the article had a screencap of a email, it seemed worth throwing out there for followup
Time to do to the Post Office what Reagan did to the air traffic controllers.
Most of the machines disconnected cannot run ballots because the dimension of the ballots is too large for them. The machines used for the ballots are not that numerous. Some of them were to be disconnected but I believe they changed their mind in some cases. Even the one that were slated to be disconnected probably haven’t been as they are connected to high voltage electricity. They were probably just switched off and the printers on the machines drained of ink.
It makes sense to me that across the country the need for mail sorting lines would diminish with time, and the most economical practice would be to move some of the ones in good order to locations where broken or worn out ones went down.
I think youre right.
Boston area postal employee here.My
facility does flats (magazines) and parcels (our main business) while letters go to another facility. 6 flat sorter
machines, one now taken apart while another is used only when necessary.
High speed letter and flat sorters are
used by USPS along with parcel sorting.
People mailing fewer letters. Bills
paid online.Birthday greetings expressed
on Facebook instead of via cards.
More delivery points but less volume.
Retiring employees either not replaced
(attrition) or replaced by new employees
with less pay, fewer benefits.
Overtime was sharply cut off but may be
restored.
I dispatch trailers.
Amer Postal Workers Union endorsees:

2020 Biden (initially Sanders)
We tend to keep politics off the workroom
floor due to Hatch Act but some of
my fellow employees do support Trump.
First class monopoly on letters.
Competition on other classes.
Cannot strike but can collectively bargain.
Mandate to fund retirements well into the
future.
Virus has hurt us re: business and some sick-outs but are considered essential employees.
Some mail from other facilities was shifted to us.
Calls to shut down local offices were met
by protests.
Universal service to every home instead of
“Drive 30 miles to pick up your mail”.
Less mail though.I took a trip for 6 days
but failed to “hold my mail”.When I got back my box had..one third class letter.
No. The votes will be counted. Any state that doesn’t certify its electors by Dec. 13 will not have its EVs counted.
This is both in the Constitution and, in case you forgot, already CONFIRMED by the USSC in Bush v. Gore.
The states know this. A Fed judge in PA already ruled that mail-ins can only be counted for three days after the election.
So if CA and NY don’t count, fine. Trump wins a massive landslide.
Fewer sorting machines = smaller mail volume = problems.
Who benefits?
There is such a lack of Business Mail, that many Direct Mail companies have shut their doors for good. Most companies do not do their own mailings, they farm this work out to specialized companies; most of whom rely on cash flow to stay in business.
Correct...but lets be honest on this whole scheme. They have to be mailed out at least 3 weeks prior to election day, and this whole return-and-count in the week prior to 13 Dec...to allow for any last challenges (which there will hundreds if not thousands of challenges).
Can anyone show that they can count such a number, in each state, without error? I think this is the big issue of this whole thing.
Presently, I anticipate a minimum of five states NOT certifying the win by 13 December (same for Senators and House members of their states), and this theatrical show carrying on for days, if not weeks.
No. Quite the contrary. Already they are NOTING errors, and lo and behold, it HURTS Demokkkrats 2:1:

I’m actually coming around to liking VBM. It is overwhelmingly going to cost DemoKKKrats votes because they aren’t smart enough to do this right and correctly vote by mail, whereas it’s hard to screw up in at the polling place with people there to help you.
