Save Washington, D.C.

D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser must think she’s clever. Maybe she’s just desperate. After weeks of lawlessness in D.C., she’s “pleading” with Acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin to lower the boom on not-so-peaceful protesters. In typical Democrat fashion, the violence and destruction plaguing a city -- in this case, a very special city -- isn’t the mayor’s fault.

Voters aren’t buying this pap. By Election Day, they really won’t be buying it.

Ask conservatives why mobs are running D.C.’s streets, and the typical answer is that Bowser isn’t doing her job. They’re right about that. Say conservatives, if D.C. can’t handle the mobs, Bowser should request help from the president. Trump is ready to intercede. Law and order could be restored in hours.

But President Trump doesn’t have to wait for Bowser to make a request. What’s holding back the president now is mostly politics. Yet the time soon approaches when Trump will need to secure D.C.

Washington, D.C. isn’t Portland or Seattle or Minneapolis or Chicago or New York or Kenosha. It’s the federal city, the country’s seat of government. The District of Columbia isn’t a state. It’s a unique jurisdiction; constitutionally mandated, no less.

What Bowser does or doesn’t want is, finally, irrelevant under federal law.

Maybe some rioting leaking out into VA will turn that state to the President ...

Bowser herself is a rioter. She has presented a list of monutments, and statues to be removed, including the Washington Monument. She wants to do the work of the rioters herself. She should be treated as a rioter.

Surprised they didn’t mention the planned White House Siege planned to start on September 17 and is supposed to last 50 days.

Just change the name of Washington D.C. to Shithole Centre (British spelling to communicate Globullist Virtue Signaling) and be done with it.

Drain the swamp and pop the ideological bubble.

A concentration in one place of politicians, greedy cronies and massive government bureaucracy, all that produce nothing but rules and control, has turned DC into a parasite that sucks off the body of the USA, and turned it into a center of self-affirming groupthink

Many agencies of government need to be removed and their HQ distributed to other states.

I have the opposite view.

Not only should all centralized Federal offices be located in Washington, but the District of Columbia should contain nothing BUT government buildings. Concentrate all Federal functions and monuments in one contiguous area, and return the rest of the city to Maryland.

The District of Columbia should have a population of zero, and no private-sector employment. This should be written into the U.S. Constitution — in an amendment that also eliminates DC’s electoral votes.

That’s a superior idea. Agriculture Department to Nebraska for example.

I’ve lived and worked in DC most of my life (DC and surrounding suburbs). I love the city and hate seeing what is happening to it. It’s like seeing your home ransacked.

“...Not only should all centralized Federal offices be located in Washington..”

I think only the Departments of Defense, Justice and State should be headquartered in WDC. The others should be scattered throughout the country - each Department to a different city.

Every state has at least one Federal building where state offices of these Federal departments are domiciled.

If I lived in Nebraska, the last thing I'd want is a bunch of Agriculture Department bureaucrats living next door to me.

It is not you that worries me. It is them. People living their life in WDC know nothing about the real USA. If the department headquarters were scattered in cities throughout the country, operating their offices with local people, I believe we would see great differences in the way government looks at the read USA.

A better way to fix that problem is to eliminate career bureaucrats. Tenure in DC should be like a stint in the military.

true - but if career employees were local it would be a boon to the headquarters city. Besides many rules and regulations come out of the ranks of career employees.

The Founders wanted most of government to be done in the 13 state capitals, not WDC. They were much smarter that we are.
