Palmer Township officials on Friday blocked the Northampton County Republican Committee from staging a rally next week on township property.
The GOP committee announced this week the Sept. 17 event in Fairview Park would feature Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who garnered widespread attention for brandishing firearms as Black Lives Matter demonstrators walked through their neighborhood June 28.
The township said it is denying permission to hold the rally over concerns about crowding amid the continuing coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus concerns aside, the GOP committee chairwoman, Gloria Lee Snover, accused the township of violating the groups First Amendment right to assembly and said organizers will move forward with a Plan B location that she declined to immediately identify.
The committee on its Facebook page this week claimed, Powerful Democrats are trying to keep this event from happening, and touted the McCloskeys' story of Individual Liberty.

I know one of the operatives involved in that part of PA. I expect that it will happen.
Gee..they should have labeled it a BLM rally!! That would done it!!
Some of the biggest pussies in the world are left-wing township officials.
Hold the rally; the township “officials” will crawl back in their rabbit holes.
Just bust down the gate and do it anyway, I bet the results would be different though.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Uh, they need a really vicious lawyer who will bark at the “officials” that did this.
There’s no basis for it whatsoever. The McCloskey’s are guilty of nothing, yet. An arrest is an allegation, nothing more. And even if they were convicted, there would be virtually no basis. To deny 1st amendment rights you will need a very high threshold of concern.
GOP and the Right just doesn’t know how to fight. Libs are terrified of court action because they know it works, especially in cases like this where you can accuse them of violating rights.
I am still waiting for our side to say to those Leftists, Go Pound Sand! We will be there regardless.
Our Constitutional Right to peaceably assemble is not superseded by your petty dictate. And, show up by the many many thousands. Obviously, we are not ready to confront the Leftist, tinpot dictators.
Just do it in the middle of the street and block traffic etc. Apparently that form of political expression is allowed but if you ask for a permit and follow the rules you are not allowed your first amendment rights.
It's a political pandemic. Everything is denied because of the ChiCom flu. Pay backs are going to be a bitch.
Yes, it's time.
FYI
Lets see, selectively shutting down political rallies, prohibiting people from going to church...I seem to recall something about a government specifically created to prevent such actions.
Right. Just tell these people that their way is not how it’s going to be. End of story. Not enough of this.
Who runs Palmer Township? Some Girly men?
If Constitutionalists showed as much guts as the township officials did in pushing for far left politics, we would be praising them.
I would like to see our side show as strong convictions.
“brandishing firearms as Black Lives Matter demonstrators walked through their neighborhood”
Wait whut?
Needs fixed:
“Exercised there rights to defend their property under castle doctrine state law against menacing trespassers”
Ohhh....yeah that’s what happened...

Township Officials? PA still keeps that unneeded level of Government Bureaucracy?
Yep. Nothing scares petty local politicians more than threat of a lawsuit.
