“being charged” means nothing nowadays. Local woke DA’s just toss the charges, regardless of evidence or harm.
My county DA recently announced that she will not prosecute looters if coppers presenting charges didn’t first check to see if the looter “really needed” the loot.
Now, if the report is about some DB going to trial, OK. Otherwise, the “news” report is simply intended to distract you — in reality nothing will happen. And, the outfit making the report darned well know this. That is why they report “being charged” and then forget about it.
Misdemeanor charges and a fine for the state.
Each convict pays for the entire loss of revenue to the restaurant that night.
Each convict pays for the entire cost of an evening out for each and every victim.
Each convict pays for the damage and breakage.
Each convict pays for the health insurance of every victim for a year (to cover the ptsd therapy)
Each convict is required to sit at an outdoor table with a sign saying "Please YELL at me as loud as you can and call me vile names while I eat!" EVERY night for a year, and if no one shows up to yell at them in person, a recording of their own voices should be played at a similarly loud volume.

I think there is a scene in All Quiet on the Western Front where an officer chastises a guy for having a bayonet. The officer instead explains why a shovel is better in the trenches, “can take a man’s head clean off with one blow.”

I hung out at a restaurant with a chronic drunk drink stealer, which lasted until a patron ordered a bloody Mary, poured out half of it, then refilled it with Tabasco sauce.
Sure enough, the drunk snatched it and chug a lugged it, then after a confused half minute ran outdoors and threw himself face first into a snowbank.
This gave me and the other patrons great amusement.
Shouldn’t she also be charged with theft?
