Gov. Inslee brought with him some honeycrisp apples grown at the Governor’s Mansion in Olympia to give to people in Omak, Malden, and Bridgeport during a tour last week to survey the fires. But it turns out those apples were infested with apple maggot larvae, according to the Douglas County Facebook page...
Apple maggots, if not controlled, could cause serious problems for orchardists in Douglas County.
Governor Inslee released a statement, as obtained by KING5, about the gaffe. In part, “We regret this mistake. This a good reminder of the importance of awareness around apple quarantine.”
But not everyone is willing to accept a mere apology. Sen. Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, said in a news release that “the stiffest penalties are in order.”

Apple maggot. Fitting nickname for the Gov.
Laws are for little people.
Conservatives are more than happy to live under the same laws and taxes they want for everyone else.
Liberals/progressives expect to be exempted from the same laws and taxes they want for everyone else.
Dimslee has to go - his stupidity is destroying Washington State. Vote for Loren Culp.
Democrat apples are like Democrat Party caucuses.

Being called ‘maggot’ in Army basic training was a favorite by the DI’s in my day.
Henceforth, he should always be called “Apple Maggot Inslee”.
From what I can glean from the article it appears that there is some kind of state requirement for getting produce inspected before it is allowed in another part of the state. If he violated this law (and he appears to have admitted he did), and if there is some kind of penalty attached to it, then he should pay that penalty like anyone one else, no more and no less. All should be equal under the law.

Last time I was in Washington there were “Apple Maggot Quarantine Area” signs on the interstate. Hard to miss.
Let’s see a class-action lawsuit against Inslee by the senator and E. WA apple farmers, do it now as election time nears.
“I broke the law, and this is good, because it will raise awareness for the law, so the next time any of you break the law, we will hit you with large fines”.
