If Tomorrow Trump nominates a Hispanic Judge the election will be over. It doesn't matter if the senate takes it. He will win the Hispanic vote and Biden will be crushed!

First: Rest in Peace, RBG. She fought cancer hard. (There, I said something nice.)

Second: President Trump could use this to his election advantage. Name a replacement that has impeccable credentials, is media-genic, who appeals to both the right and suburban moms.

The election then becomes a referendum on both Trump, and an impeccable Supreme Court Justice, vs. the lunatic Left.

(Is it unseemly to look at the political angles while RGB's body is still warm? Maybe. But the stakes are huge for the country.)

If she refuses to...Republicans should vote for her Democratic rival.

Get rid of her. Same result.

As someone said on another thread, even if a new one isn’t confirmed until next year, at least there will be one less liberal judge on the court in case something regarding the election needs to be decided, like with Gore/Bush.

There's another angle to the decision about pushing a nominee or holding back on it until after Election Day:

Camelhead Harris is on the Judiciary Committee, and the committee hearings would be a giant "free" political ad for her. That could work in the Democrats' favor.

It could also work in the favor of the GOP if it shuts down her VP campaign.

Maybe Trump should nominate that woman Amy Coney Barrett and let the Democrats pay a fearful price if they abuse her on national TV.

If the GOP Majority Senate refuses to vote on a nominee until after inauguration day or votes down Trumps nominee, the GOP is finished.

No, no, no. Just elect more Republicans. That will fix everything. /s

The (legitimate) argument against holding hearings and voting on Merrick Garland before the 2016 election was that Obama was a lame duck president.

Not the case with President Trump.

I already counted out Romney and her and Collins. Pence will be the tie breaker.

So what would happen if there is an election dispute and then a 4-4 tie in the Supreme Court? Trump and the republicans must nominate and confirm a justice to avoid this. The country demands it. Mitch better whip the senate in line with that argument. We can not face a 4-4 tie on a Michigan or pa election ballot dispute. It will be civil war. Currently, the Republicans are appealing the Michigan and PA decision To allow vote counting to continue after Election Day. The republic deserves a decision on that, not a tie. Republicans need to man up.

After yesterday’s rulings in Michigan and Pennsylvania, how does Trump have a chance at re-election? He needs to nominate a replacement this week, and Mitch had better raise hell on the Romney and co. to get them in line. I don’t see us having the presidency or the senate after January 20th. Get it done before that.

“ President Trump should use this as motivation to get voters to turn out and vote for Republicans and himself, IMO....”

That’s a given. Exit polls last time said SCOTUS appointments were a big reason for Trump winning. Problem is there will be run away cheating in swing states. This election result is destined to be heard by the Court. IF the Turtle finds his balls, AND the new appointee doesn’t recuse, it could mean the difference between an honest or stolen election.

Supposedly he is underwater in Utah. Possibly his last political term at anything.

So what would happen if there is an election dispute and then a 4-4 tie in the Supreme Court?

In that case whatever the appeals court (just below the Supreme court) decides will hold.

Harris is a non-factor. Even Democrats who dislike her for their reasons from the left will still vote Biden over Trump. Biden matters only so much if he’s acceptable to those who want a break from Trump.

Trump wins if the American public trust him on three issues I see... economy, the virus factor, and the civil unrest. This court issue, as much as it does matter, is going to be behind those three to the masses. GOP senators will kick the can. Everyone who is running wants to get reelected, limit as many factors that can put you in a bind. Thus, the Rinos provide cover. It’s on President Trump to make his case.
