Just kidding of course. THERE IS NOW A SUPREME COURT VACANCY! Justice Ginsburg passed away last night.
This will be a battle royale! And what makes the left VERY upset is that they can't plan a lengthy battle, with the carefully timed revelation, the "beach friends", the women all dressed in red, and other phoney play-acting.
Committee hearings will need to be brief. Senators are up for reelection. Mitch is up for reelection, the chairman of the Judiciary is up for reelection. Senator Harris (VP nominee, sits on Judiciary) will need to leave the campaign trail so she can grandstand (oh, so I guess she won't need to leave the campaign trail. Scratch that.).
Lots of politics in a short timetable. These are practised hands that like to delay things, but these are also practised hands that can go Ludicrous Speed when they want to.
Oh, and Jeff Flake's gone, thank God!

Lisa MurKOWski needs to remember that she is running in 2022.
This nomination by President Trump, next week will be Amy Coney Barrett, and she has been vetted and will be seated for the fall term.
It is critical that SCOTUS have a full bench because of the legal fights that will come from November 3...and 4 and 5 and so on.
I’ll be happy if we get one next week, so long as it’s the right (brand new!) opening.
We are likely to get two confirmed next week, but not the new opening. One district judge in Arizona and another in the important Eastern District of Virginia.
I figured not the new opening, but it would be beautiful if that happened!
District judges suddenly low priority now. Judiciary Cmte members need to campaign also, including Harris.
