The Supreme Court announced at 7:28 p.m. Friday that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died of complications from pancreatic cancer. NPR reported that the 87-year-old liberal lioness dictated this statement to her granddaughter as she lost strength in her final days: My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.
1) Trump will probably nominate a woman in the next few days.
2) A Senate vote on Trumps nominee seems most likely to occur during the lame-duck session, after the election.
3) This vacancy gives Trump the opportunity to reframe the presidential race away from the coronavirus.
4) This vacancy will drive up turnout and energy on both sides, but it could wind up motivating the right more than the left
5) This vacancy makes ticket splitting less likely in November, increasing the odds that Republicans hold the Senate.
6) Few Republican senators will care about being charged with rank hypocrisy
7) There will be immense pressure from the left for Democrats to pack the Supreme Court if they win the Senate majority.
8) The coming fight will further erode public confidence in the neutrality and independence of the courts.
9) Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. will no longer be the swing vote.

“Courage”
Skip the committee since the Democrats turned it into such a circus with Kavanaugh and go straight to the floor and vote.
Did she know something about the election that us mere mortals aren't privy to? Or was she planning on hanging around until January 20, 2025? I personally use the term "sworn in", rather than installed. Installed has a connotation that smacks of some kind of underhanded shenanigans. Something I would never put past the DemocRATS.
The appointment will be popular on the right.
If Senators wish to be re-elected as Republicans, they will vote confirm.
Ditto for Dem senators in Red states like Montana and Alabama.
Or West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.
Do they call it the 202 because it’s not even half as smart as a 411?
yup
Got to remember that one of the jobs of being President is to appoint new USSC justices. The left tends to forget this.
Correct!
Skip the committee since the Democrats turned it into such a circus with Kavanaugh and go straight to the floor and vote.
I agree bring her name up in committee vote to go to the floor and vote on her..
Do they call it the 202 because its not even half as smart as a 411?
Absolutely they are half wits!!
They damn well better vote before the election because if McSally loses that’s a special election and d*ckhead Kelly can be in the Senate soon thereafter.
Skip the committee since the Democrats turned it into such a circus with Kavanaugh and go straight to the floor and vote.

yep these clowns on the left do not deserve any respect or consideration. Same people out here supporting and encouraging violence in the streets.
Orilly? She was playing electoral chess in her head and dictating complete paragraphs to her granddaughter as she was losing consciousness?
Did some earnest, unpaid college intern at NPR write this?
Video or it didn't happen.
What does the virus have to do with the election?
Liberals had control of the Court for decades... What's the Post talking about here? Are they going to murder the conservative justices? Or add 50 more and name them from democrat sources?
Maybe we should do that too... Open up the SC and add another 50 conservative judges. How would the privileged spoiled brats of the left feel about that?
Manchin Voted to Impeach Trump over nothing.
Manchin just blamed Trump for the BLM Violence and bloodshed.
Manchin is core Democrat and its not even close.
No, skip it because they've announced their votes.
They have made up their minds without hearing evidence, so why grant them the privilege of hearing evidence?
I think the leftist crazies will try to block entrance to the Senate chamber with violence to stop a hearing and vote. Senators will be threatened. There will be bomb threats to stop the hearing. This has to be done remotely. Just my assessment.
