It’s nothing new for political religions to produce radicals that develop their own sects or cults. This time around, rigid devotion to enforcing mask compliance has produced runaway fanaticism based on nothing but blind faith that more mask-wearing is always better. Even the public health experts, whom these followers all promoted as great prophets just months ago, can’t tame their fervor.
That’s a problem, because a return to normalcy will require subduing radical factions that agitate for oppression. Restrictions such as mask mandates are like oxygen to followers of radical fundamentalist Covidianism — the abiding belief that only lockdowns, social distancing, and masks can deliver us from the deadly pandemic. The longer mandates stay in place and experts continue promoting mask use — “My mask protects you! Your mask protects me!” — the stronger and more widespread the extremism will grow, and the less influence experts will have over their behavior.

I am scared of Mask Fanatics, they sound like 666 people. It sounds like they are all over the place. Hopefully, I do not run into any of them. I will have to keep my eyes open for them.
COVID is the new religion of the Left and “the mask” is their symbol. They are the BORG of this century.
Ask her “If masks capture viruses (virii?), why don’t they have to be disposed of as hazardous medical waste?”.
Masks are as effective as stopping mosquitoes with a chain link fence.
They should and yet you see them laying all over the place outdoors these days.
People are just slobs about cleaning up after themselves and any parking lot will have several just laying around.
Just refuse to play their game as I have done all along ... so I figure, why start now?

I know that’s easy for me to say because I’m in a Texas county where though most everyone wears them, they won’t hassle you.
But it’s time to start ditching the masks, folks. Unless someone else has a better plan to start reclaiming sanity and freedom....

My wife is a true believer. I have a cousin who is apparently even more off the deep end. Absolutely terrified and paranoid about the bug.
As is usual for the drones, as long as they FEEEEEELLLLLL good about themselves and they are “actually” doing something....... Well, you know the rest of the story. Yeah, they would have bought jim jones crap or LRH crap. We bought some shields that clip on to our glasses frames. Minimal aggravation when entering places that REQUIRE face coverings. Masks for some are like a child’s security blanket; utterly useless, but the cause of hysteria if you take it away.

You still can't go into a grocery store or other retail outlet around here without one or they will swoop down on you in a heartbeat (I'm talking the employees). But I understand their motivation. Businesses stand to get heavily fined - or even closed down - by the government for allowing customers to not have masks. So I don't want to cause hassles for anybody and so I respect the businesses that I frequent and wear the stupid thing as mandated by law.
This nonsense can't end too soon.
I like face masks. Don’t have to apply makeup before leaving the house. Life is so much easier now. Face masks forevuh!
At least here west of Ocala in central Florida, Publix and Walmart have removed the idiotic one-way aisles that most people ignored anyway.
Plus I had a cousin call me out of the blue to tell me relax and listen to the governor and doctors because they know what they are talking about and just to go along.
I have not spoken to her since. I love her and she is a good person but she has lost it on the covid and mask issue.

I forgot to wear a mask the other day when I went into a Walgreens. Wandered around shopping for about ten minutes, got a few nasty looks from clerks who didn’t say anything. Then an announcement came over the loud speakers. Masks mandatory. Figured it was for me!
