I laughed over the author’s use of the expression “radical fundamentalist Covidianism”!

‘Is the point group think?’

what are you blathering about...? the point is nobody on this thread suggested forcing maskers to do anything until you brought it up...the ‘point’ is in fact just the opposite; the maskers, backed by the power of authority, are forcing us into compliance...

All this reminds me of Ayn Rand’s novelette “Anthem” where science has been outlawed for the good of mankind.

I read this when I was a teenager and thought it a great read but that it was impossible to actually occur. I was wrong.

The New Green Deal seeks to accomplish just that, in that the benefits of science will be denied to the average person.

‘Just say, “Can’t—I have a medical reason”.’

shouldn’t have to lie; lying only feeds the corruption until it gets too large to contain...

“I’m in a Texas county where though most everyone wears them, they won’t hassle you.”

I’m in Chicago and I’ve been walking around since March with no mask on except when I have to wear one to go in a store or something. Nobody’s hassled me. Get a few idiots walking out into the middle of the street to avoid me, but that’s not a hassle to me!

I have a shirt tail relative like that....seems so afraid and was shocked at my revelation that I mostly go mask less except when absolutely required.

My hub just said the NFL fined coach and players $100K each for not wearing a mask at the other nights game

I never wear a mask. I sometimes get looks, but I really don’t give a damn. I’m not gonna wear a petri dish on my face. I do enough things that are bad for my health. I don’t need any more.

Stop assuming what I "damned well know". You miss the point completely.

Everybody can do what I do. They just choose to follow their local mask dictates instead. We have one here too. I just don't think uninformed county commissioners know anymore about it than I do. They do it for political expediency, not for the health and safety of the citizens.

Everybody has constitutional rights. Learn to exercise them instead of listening to people in government who say they are in control when the constitution says that you and I are. Stand up for yourself.

The constitution exists to give you rights to protect you from the government. It does not give the government the right to tell you what to do with regards to those rights.

So far no state legislature has passed any laws making the wearing of masks in public a law subject to a penalty. Only political dictates of elected officials.

When some state passes a law requiring the wearing of masks, get back to me. Until then, please stop trying to tell me what I can or cannot comment on FR about.

You mean the "woke" NFL?

Who can play an athletic event with a phuquing mask on? I can hardly breathe with one on let alone play football.

What a joke. This all for show. Bravado and bluster. It means nothing.

The NFL is no longer relevant to American culture or society.

Just say, “Can’t—I have a medical reason”.

Under HIPPA no further questions allowed.

On the very few occasions I've been questioned about my non-maskedness, I just say "I'm medically exempt", and go on about my day.

Those that do not go along with whatever the band-wagon of group think and mass hysteria is of the day, always get a label put on them. Today that label is “reckless” and “irresponsible,” or even “unprofessional” if you’re a boss and do not play along with masks for example. Yes, there are real consequences associated with not conforming may it be paper and glass recycling in the past (programs getting shut down because they never made environmental or economic sense) or disagreeing with prohibition, idiotic marijuana laws... Do you remember the era of furs being bad and how people were insulted in public and in some cases paint was thrown on people that wore them? Not to long ago many folks with Hummers were getting their cars vandalized because that wasn’t cool anymore. When you don’t play along, there are always consequences, ***but now government is also in the equation to an ever increasing degree.***

The problem today is that government is very pervasive because of the scope to which they have expanded may it be because of nanny state programs or so called public safety/health.

“Your liberty to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.” (O.W.H.) Simple and profound words.

However, today the nose has become very large and extends to HOW MUCH WATER YOUR TOILET USES PER FLUSH AND WHAT LIGHTBULB YOU USE WHILE SITTING ON THAT TOILET. What more does one need to say?

The idea of public safety and collectivism, this idea that what you do affects others, allows government to control EVERYTHING. You can make an argument for how “this is connected to that” for nearly anything today and because the nanny state has everyone receiving some form of collective assistance (with strings attached), you can make an argument that we are all paying for the behaviors and should be allowed to dictate rules and requirements on each other.

Individualism and liberty dies in such a bureaucratic and politically motivated technocracy.

It’s amusing to me that even at my advanced age I can turn those people around with a look.

If my mask protects me from the covid-19, then why should I be concerned about whether you wear your mask or not? Likewise, if your mask protects you, then why should you get upset if I don’t wear mine? The real unknown may well be whether everyone wearing a mask protects anyone.

“How long does it live in the “mask” environment?”

Wikipedia says:

On surfaces the amount of viable active virus decreases over time until it can no longer cause infection. One study indicated that the virus can be detected for up to four hours on copper, up to one day on cardboard, and up to three days on plastic (polypropylene) and stainless steel.
