BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — President Donald Trump “has continued to improve” but faced serious symptoms on Friday, the White House physician said Sunday, seeking to clarify contradictory statements and confusion that previously raised questions about the seriousness of the president’s condition.
Navy Cmdr. Dr. Sean Conley acknowledged the confusion and offered new details as he addressed the media from on the steps of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where Trump was being treated for COVID-19.
Conley said the president had a “high fever” and a blood oxygen level below 94% on Friday before he was hospitalized.
“The president has continued to improve,” Conley said.
Trump offered his own assessment of his status the night before in a video from his hospital suite, saying he was beginning to feel better and hoped to “be back soon.” And he was back on social media early Sunday morning, sharing a video of flag-waving supporters, most not wearing masks, gathered outside Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The changing, and at times contradictory, accounts created a credibility crisis for the White House at a crucial moment, with the president’s health and the nation’s leadership on the line. Moreover, the president’s health represents a national security issue of paramount importance not only to the functions of the U.S. government but also to countries around the world, friendly and otherwise.
Trump’s Democratic challenger, Joe Biden, pulled his attack ads off the air during Trump’s hospitalization, and on Sunday, he dispatched senior aides to deliver a largely friendly message.

The press demonstrate no understanding of this and simply want gotcha points. Questions about isolation lung scans etc are inappropriate but here is my educated opinion
1. Of course he is in isolation. Negative pressure is only important in a hospital wing where there are many rooms. Negative pressure rooms have an anteroom so that nothing gets out into corridors. The president is in his own suite in his own building. Negative pressure is irrelevant
2. Transient hypoxemia occurs with any respiratory disease. The key take away is that he is not feeling short of breath. This tells me that he is on the upswing. Additionally continuous pulse of telemetry demonstrates transient decreases in saturation on most hospitalized patients in any particular period.
3. Fever. Didn’t hear one reported. So I assume he remains afebrile. This is the best news of all. Usually 72 hours afebrile signals rust the disease is generally run its course.
4. Discharge planning is starting which means that he is probably doing very well. If discharges tomorrow that means I’m the medical judgment of the attending physician he does not require hospital level services
5. He will complete remdesivir. Five days as I said yesterday. The remdesivir has shortened the duration of the hospitalization and severity of the symptoms. Exactly what studies have shown
6. They are starting decadron. This is a relatively low risk medication that is steroid and shown to improve outcome. It’s fine to start this for five days.
7. He is up and around and mobilizing which means he is oxygenating fine.
8. Lung scans. I have seen awful scans that had a mild course and relatively innocuous scans with horrible outcomes. So radiology is not predictive of outcome.
So in summary. It appears he has done well. He has had meds that shorten duration and decrease severity of symptoms. This is exactly what should have happened.
No conspiracy. No bull crap. This is right down the middle. He is likely day #8 since infection. 5 day incubation. Day thee is sunrooms. So if he remains afebrile and improving tomorrow will be day 9 or 10 and he is through the scariest part.
I am cautiously optimistic.

SOP for transporting a patient via ambulance or helicopter is to start an IV just in case and oxygen especially if the suspected condition could involve lungs and O2 saturation.
I am 74 and when I am sitting in recliner and relaxed for a while my O2% saturation will drop to 93-94. I sit up or stand up and it goes up to 98/99. The MSM needs to shut up going nuts about the application of oxygen. It is obvious it is wishful thinking on their biased hopes.
I thought the Dr’s wanted to get him over the hump. While he’s well enough to go home right now, I was under the impression they would prefer him to stay there for at least a few more days.

I wish that President Trump would stay at Walter Reed until the five days of remdesivir treatment are over. Perhaps even in the presidential suite there are the lurking dangers of other diseases that people get in hospitals.
The press are idiots. Yesterday one reporter asked “has the President been admitted and is he officially a patient at Walter Reed”. That’s when the dr ended the press conference.

A normal blood oxygen level varies between 75 and 100 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). A blood oxygen level below 60 mm Hg is considered low and may require oxygen supplementation, depending on a doctor’s decision and the individual case.

Anything above 90% blood oxygen saturation is considered normal and NOT in need of supplementation. Funny they don’t note that fact.
