Thomas Tancredo on Immigration

Congress of the United States House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515

I recently received your comments about immigration and the state of our nation's borders. I appreciate hearing from you and, as you know, I wholeheartedly believe that American immigration policy is far too lax, and is in need of serious reform.

The question that so many people have asked me is "What can be done?" During President Fox of Mexico's recent visit to Washington, I introduced House Concurrent Resolution 220, the Sovereign American Borders Resolution, a copy of which appears at the bottom of this message. The resolution affirms the commitment of the Congress to preserving the sovereignty of the United States and the integrity of its border.

Although it does not make specific changes to our nation's immigration policy, I believe that it represents the best way to let the American people and the world know that Congress will not stand idly by as America's borders disappear.

If you are willing to join me in this fight, please

1) Write your Member of Congress and ask him to cosponsor H. Con. Res. 220. If he refuses, ask him why he is opposed to preserving the sovereignty of the United States.

2) Write Judiciary Committee Chairman Sensenbrenner and ask him to hold hearings on the resolution.

If you do not know who represents you in Congress, you can find out here: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

Thank you again for contacting my office about what I believe is one of the most important issues that America will face in the coming decades.

Sincerely,

Thomas G. Tancredo Member of Congress

KEYWORDS:
Rep. Tancredo is one strong voice of reason concerning immigration in the House. Please contact your representatives and encourage them to support the Sovereign American Borders Resolution 220. It's at least a beginning to a saner immigration policy.

Sorry, I failed to include the actual resolution. Here it is:

107TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION H. CON. RES. 220

Affirming the commitment of Congress to preserving the sovereignty of the United States and the integrity of its border.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SEPTEMBER 6,2001

Mr.TANCREDO (for himself and Mr.GOODE)submitted the following concurrent resolution;which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

Affirming the commitment of Congress to preserving the sovereignty of the United States and the integrity of its border.

Whereas sovereignty,as it is understood in the United States, entails self-government and a government acting with the consent of the governed;

Whereas preserving a nation 's border is essential to its sovereignty;

Whereas the border of the United States is the legal separator between the area governed by the Constitution and the rest of the world;

Whereas the border of the United States is the symbolic separator between the area governed by the principles embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the rest of the world;

Whereas the Government of the United States is charged by its citizens with protecting the inalienable rights and liberties of those who reside within its border;

Whereas disregard for a nation 's border portends the decline of the nation itself; and

Whereas the widespread and unregulated movement of people across the border of the United States occurs without legal sanction or the consent of the governed and, therefore, undermines the self-government of the United States: Now,therefore,be it Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring),That Congress -

(1) affirms its commitment to preserving the sovereignty and self-government of the United States and the integrity of its border;

(2) disapproves of open-border policies and other policies that would undermine the sovereignty of the United States; and

(3) urges the President to pursue a policy of protecting the sovereignty of the United States by vigorously enforcing the laws of the United States with respect to both legal and illegal immigration.

Click on the link to go to Rep. Tancredos web page.

You can read other press releases regarding immigration (pre and post attack).

Also, you can listen to a RealPlayer audio (center of the page, right hand side) of a c-span appearance.

Tancredo is not afraid to say what needs to be said.

No, he's not. His kind is rare in Congress, most of them are trying so hard to be politically correct. I hope his resolution passes.

Start with a ban on Muslim immigration. Good a place as any to start.
