Don't get me wrong here. I think very highly of Franklin. It's just that this propaganda says he touted Christianity upon which this nation was founded, yet I have read somewhere that he was not especially religious.
In my experience the vast majority of Protestants view the Jewish people as cousins if not brothers in worship of the God of Abraham. So much of our belief is based on Old Testament scripture (Torah of course included) that it should be anti-thetical for a Protestant Christian to be an anti-semite. Most of us subscribe to the belief that our Saviour is a Jew and are hopeful that this belief gets us included at the same table as the "Chosen People".
There are of course exceptions. Members of the KKK hate the Jews as much or more than Blacks and Catholics, and most of them were raised in some sort of Baptist tradition. (PS: They were also until very recently devout followers of the Democrat Party). But educated Protestants of the Colonial and Revolutionary period would have been extremely tolerant of the Jewish community.
