[Three Axis of Evil Countries] "Planned Simultaneous Invasion of S. Korea and Israel in 92"
American terrorism expert Bodansky claims ... "Kim Il-Sung called it off at the last moment."
In his new book, "The High Cost of Peace", Mr. Bodansky writes that:
After the fall of Soviet Union, Iran had the ambition to create alliance from the Mediteranian to the Indus River. Iran recruited Syria, Pakistan, and Iraq to agree to the struggle to drive out the common enemy, U.S.A..
Iran stepped up the support for terrorism against the West. Imported large quantities of conventional weapons and missiles to bolster her military. Obtained two 40k ton nuclear warheads from Kazakstan.
This alliance planned to use Hezbollah to create provokations to Israel, with the intention of eliciting a severe retaliation from Israel. Iran and Syria planned to follow it by waves of retaliatory ballistic missile attacks on Israel's civilian and strategic targets. This war was supposed to occur between June and Sepetember of 1992.
At the last moment, Syria wanted to involve N. Korea in this plan. The plan was thus modified to have simultaneous N. Korean invasion of S. Korea to unify Korean peninsula, along with Iran/Syria's attack on Israel.
This plan was called off due to political instability in N. Korea. Kim Il-Sung wanted to make official his intention of handing over his power to his son, Kim Jong-Il by letting the son head the delegation to the Conference of Non-aligned Nations. But he cancelled this succession process because he wanted to preside over the invasion of S. Korea. In this midst, 18 N. Korean military officers were arrested for the charge of planning a coup by storming into the N. Korean presidential palace to assasinate both Kim's. They were later executted.
After the conference was over, Kim Il-Sung indicated to visiting Iranian president Hashemi Rafsanjani that he is still interested in the plan. But Iran no longer trusted N. Korea at the time. And the plan of simultaneous wars was called off.
According to this article, Iran will use its missiles to attack Israel. And Hezbollah is Iran's proxy. N. Korea is in it to grab S. Korea. N. Korea could care less who would win in Mid-East as long as it can secure S. Korea.
As you may know, the purpose of this plan is to split American resources between MidEast and Far East.
We can always wonder if this is 100% true. But it is a feasible plan to me. Kim Il-Sung had been obsessed with the small window of opportunity in which his army can make a dash to Seoul and do not worry about the eventual reinforcement and the counterattack which his army could not beat back.
Apparently, it is in his book. I would like to know the source of this assertion as well. I guess that somebody has to read his book.:) Let me know if you find out how he reached this conclusion.
If anyone tried to think like an anti-American, this is very likely. Surely they all considered something to that affect and sent each other diplomatic messages.
History tends to repeat itself. Alliances were formed by conquest-oriented forces many times. The stronger anti-conquest forces are, the more likely they will try to tag team.
So, since we cannot attack on two fronts simultaneously, and since NK has nuclear weapons, we must consider the ability to fight a defensive war on the NK front that makes conquest near-impossible. I wonder if that's possible?
Bush inherited a fine mess, didn't he?
