A noble effort, undertaken and supported by those of us who desire a safe, sane, and drug-free America. An insane effort, undertaken and supported by those of you who need a boogieman to fight/make $$$/feel good about yourselves. I say we turn the no-more-flamewar thread into a flamewar!!!
To: Admin Moderator
It's my understanding that Breaking News is also okay for Chapter/FRN activism announcements and reports, yes?

Currently, as I write this, an announcement regarding the NC Freepers Patriot Rally scheduled for Feb 15th is at the top of the breaking news column. I wish this were in the announcement column. So many of these announcements get dumped onto breaking news that the really interesting news gets bumped off very quickly. It would be nice if announcements such as these were moved over to announcements. I agree with everything you say about the abuse of breaking news, and wish to include with your remarks this observation.

A noble effort, undertaken and supported by those of us who desire a safe, sane, and drug-free America.
An evil effort, using the 'commerce clause' to regulate what people do in their private lives. Perputrated by nazis.
"Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), U.S. President. Speech, 18 Dec. 1840, to Illinois House of Representatives

Something the networks would interrupt their programming to saySo, if I'm watching Fox News, and they interrupt with a breaking news alert that there is a car chaase in East Podunk, I can put it in breaking news? Cool!

WOD = War On Drugs or Weary Of Drugs depending on your situation. Someone posts an article about drugs. Then someone praises the authorities about an arrest. Then the Libertarian Church Ladies(LCL) appear and attack that person as a communist, burying them under a hail of purse strikes. Then the Goofs appear, demanding more drug laws as a way to prod the LCL's to watch them catch fire and swing harder.
See Civil War threads for another example.

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this."
Albert Einstein, "My First Impression of the U.S.A.", 1921
