A deeply troubled man.

Not much of a story here yet. Maybe more info will come out later. To me the real story is the vile little Dakotan gnome is finally keeping his mouth shut! Let's count our blessings. :-)

[Executive Editor Randell] Beck fueled more controversy during a radio interview on May 22, 2003 when responding to a question about the lobbying activities of Daschle's wife Linda he emphatically stated the Argus Leader "doesn't report on the wives of political candidates." But an investigation indicates otherwise. SD Republicans and national Repubs need to build on this. No more liberal passes on unethical behavior allowed.

It appears the Argus Leader is in lockstep with Daschle and the Dummycrats. And in the process, the paper seems to have violated journo ethics if not actual laws. This is gonna be good. Stay tuned.

The correct response to outrageous bias like this one is not "oh bias again, big surprise"...as I've seen with some posts here. Once you get jaded, you're no longer an important player in changing minds politically. You've become a curmudgeon. The depths of the media's corruptness never surprises me and the fact that the Argus Leader's misbeahvior even drew a reproach from the liberal New York Times means that they really crossed the boundaries of journalistic integrity. Demanding media accountibility means pressuring for media reform- a transparency that is absolutely vital and missing in the American system. The media, especially newspapers (which hold monopolies in most cities due to industry dynamics) are untouchable- it's time to put them under the control of the people. I am working on a policy proposal of "Media Reform" which will encourage such accountibility. Hopefully, we Freepers will put our heads together and come up with some ideas along these lines.
