September 16, 2003 -- CNN news chief Jim Walton had a "private converation" with reporter Christiane Amanpour after she accused her own network of being "intimidated" in its coverage of the Iraqi war.

Amanpour, a guest on last week's "Topic A with Tina Brown" on CNBC, set off shockwaves in the TV world over the weekend when she said she thought her employer, CNN, was "muzzled" in its war coverage by a combination of the White House and its competitive position with the higher-rated Fox News Channel.

Silly twit was crying wolf again -- because her viewpoints weren't supported by her own U.N. sponsoring, pacifist editors. How many times did we hear Wesley Clark criticize the military? How many times did we hear that Iraqi civilians were suffering at American hands? CNN had full freedom of the press and then some. In fact, it's excellent proof that the Bush administration is being careful with its wartime powers.

Brit Hume played the clip of Amanpour's statement without editorializing.I have enjoyed immensely the exposure of silliness, sour grapes, and hypocrisy of Amanpour.I'm still mad from Gulf War1.She is anti American.

I'm still confused. Does the "War Slut" mean to try to tell us that they could have been more anti-American in their war reporting, but chose not to out of fear?

That's what happens when you get an Ae-rab to do an American's job.

Talk about a race based hiring. She was a nobody before CNN put her in a position over her head. A reporter with a terrible vocal delivery and HARD on the eyes to boot.

Now she criticizes them for disrespecting jihad. That is what this is about. Will she be fired? Of course not. She said what CNN thinks and will be promoted at a later date, as long as she keeps her mouth shut from now on.

She really made CNN look like a weakling compared to FOX. Morale must really be low at CNN!

She's nothing but a prostitute for the left. Did you notice who she was making these remarks to (there was video of her making the remarks)?

Overrated and full of herself Tina Brown and Al Franken who was sitting on the couch hoping for lesbian sex to break out.

A Fox News spokeswonman said: "It's better to be viewed as a foot soldier for Bush than spokeswoman for al-Qaeda."

Perfect!

Overrated and full of herself Tina Brown...

Last I heard Tina Brown's show was the lowest-rated on CNBC by far. It's down in, or on the edge of, asterisk territory (meaning the numbers are so low Nielsen can't accurately measure them).

Speaking of Christiane Amanpour -

"A Fox News spokeswonman said: "It's better to be viewed as a foot soldier for Bush than spokeswoman for al-Qaeda."

What was the name of that ex-CNN reporter that got fired while doning coverage in Baghdad? Arnett something?

CNN sure knows how to pick 'em.

Wasn't there some scandal report about how CNN agreed not to report some things in exchange for being allowed in country? I forgot all the details, but it was little things like rapes, mass murders and torture; stuff no one would be interested in reading.

You are not confused at all. You have it exactly correct.
Used to be, CNN was a 24-hour cable news monopoly and they could go as far left and anti-American as they pleased without worry that somebody would report the truth. That is no longer the case. It is now Amanpour and her fellow travellers who are confused. They don't know what to do and so they blubber.

Regards,
LH
