Madness in Madison, WI: Christians Urged to Protest "Corpus Christi" (portrays Jesus as homosexual)

URGENT ACTION REQUESTED!

Madness in Madison

Christians Urged to Protest Corpus Christi Showing

It has been six long years since playwright Terrence McNally first staged his play Corpus Christi in New York City. Since then, the work, which portrays Our Lord Jesus Christ and the apostles as homosexuals, has generated protests, local indignation and negative publicity at alternative theaters. Thousands of Catholics have come to Our Lord’s defense with vibrant and moving acts of reparation. No major venue has dared touched it.

Since new plans to stage the play were made public, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) and its America Needs Fatima campaign are gearing up for a nationwide protest against a March showing at the Bartell Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin.

“Those who promote this cruel play are so persistent,” claims America Needs Fatima director Robert Ritchie. “We must show that we are just as persistent in our devotion to Our Lord.”

The first stage of this peaceful and legal protest consists in sending protest post cards to the Bartell Theatre, expressing a complete rejection for the play. Similar cards are being sent to Madison's The Capital Times asking that their coverage of the play fairly represent Catholic indignation toward Corpus Christi. Finally, protesters are writing to the Mayor of Madison asking him to join the protest and consider how this play can only affect the city’s reputation.

Tens of thousands of members are already participating in the first step. Now TFP website readers can send their own protests to the Bartell Theatre, The Capital Times and the mayor by clicking here.

As in the past, America Needs Fatima will sponsor a massive rally of reparation at the Bartell Theatre if Corpus Christi is shown there in March.

“Protests definitely send a message to the community,” Mr. Ritchie stressed. “We want everyone from the media to city hall to know that Corpus Christi is a non-starter.”

It's been a while since I've manned a protest line, but I feel that this will be worthy of some picket time. To those who oppose this form of blatant anti-Catholic/anti-Christian bigotry, please go to the source link to send out your complaints now. Please also ping me if you would like a protest reminder as this "play" goes to production.

This madness came to my town. In a theater of 150, the theater owners (oh, so much more hip than we poor rubes) whined that they had to spend "$5000" to provide security for the performance.

The fact that they could pay $5000 for security for a theater of 120 should tell you that a) they lied about the cost, or b) somebody outside of that tiny theater was footing the bill to bring a show that was offensive to Christians into my town.

I shouldn't have to make all the regular arguments, but one always stands out...if this play ridiculed blacks, or Jews, or Muslims, or the poor, or the fat, or homosexuals, or the transgendered, or the bisexual, or one-legged color-blind penguins, some protest group would bitch, and it would have been called off. This play ridiculed Christ and Christians, so the "arts community" blathered on about freedom of speech. Nobody cares if they offend us. We are going to "tolerance" ourselves straight to Hell in this country.

You are completely correct. I think that part of the reason for the discrepancy in how these groups are treated is that those groups always put up a fight against garbage like this, while we usually just ignore it and let it grow more bold. However, this Christian plans to make his stand in street, not in the coliseum.

Is there anywhere in the Gospels where is says he wasn't?

But seriously, this play and the idea behind it are so whacko that protesting it just gives it more legitimacy than it deserves.

The more you ignore it, the faster it will go away.

Odd. I've not heard Abe Foxman railing from the rooftops against this play.

Well , in the not so distant future, there be a lot of knees bending and tongues will be confessing as to Who is king of Kings, and Lord of Lords That won't change because some bag of dirt writes a play

besides, If things like this didin't happen, a lot of christians would just stay in church and the padded pews

There must be some restistance for work to be performed.

Jesus was without sin. Homosexuality is a sin. Connect the dots.

Ignoring evil only makes it grow stronger.

The trouble with Christians in defending insults to their faith is that they are just too nice.
Petitions, letters to The Editor picketing nuns and laying down in the street are just not enough. Sadly prayer won't do it either

What the left can teach Christians is how to rabble rouse, to get
the coverage, to make the elites who plan to see this play as an anti-Christan act uncomfortable.
You need more shouting, more pushing against barriers, more bull horns and righteous anger.

You need ten thousand unstoppable people surrounding that place.

It is your Savior, for crying out loud, DO IT.

P.S. I am not a Christian, but if I lived in that city, I would be there in front of the theatre doing what is right.

I usually don't subscribe to these discussion forums, but when I see comments like the one from "Servant of the 9" I need to interject a bit.

"Is there anywhere in the Gospels where it says he wasn't?"
(I'm assuming what you're asking is where in the 4 Gospels does it say that Jesus was not homosexual - correct me if I'm wrong)
No, in the 4 Gospels it does not DIRECTLY say that Jesus was not homosexual. Nor does it directly say He was not a liar, nor an immoral man (with Mary Magdalene, Mary and the other women who followed Him), nor does it directly say He was not a drunk, nor does it directly say He was not greedy, nor directly many other things - IN THE FOUR GOSPELS.

HOWEVER, the Gospels are not His only words. II Timothy 3:16, 17 clearly teaches that "All scripture is inspired of God..." John 12:47ff teaches that Jesus' words were not His own, but God, the Father's, Who sent Him. He sent His Holy Spirit to inspire the apostles to remember, witness and expound on what He taught them while here on earth - written down for us today in the New Testament (John 13-16).

Leviticus 18:22 clearly teaches that for a man to lie with another man as with a woman - it is an abomination. A sin.
Romans 1:26-32 describes men with men as lustful, indecent and depraved. A Sin.
I Corinthians 6:9ff teaches that the unrighteous are not of the kingdom of God, the "effiminate" and "homosexuals" included.
NOW note Hebrews 4:15 - Jesus was tempted in all things as we are "YET WITHOUT SIN."

So, let's make no mistake, folks - the very idea...the very notion that Jesus would be homosexual smacks completely contrary to the nature of God (y'all remember Him - the One Who created male and female for purposes of coming together; not male and male nor female and female). The very concept that Jesus was homosexual just because He was surrounded by other men is absolutely, completely ANTI-BIBLICAL. It is simply false.

Furthermore, my apologies to "Servant of the 9," but I must also disagree with his next comment. We've for far too long looked the other way while the homosexual "aggenda," or "movement" or "mindset" has been allowed to slowly trickle into our culture. Now, it's run amuck. And now, possibly too late for America, we're trying to put out all the fires, trying to reverse a trend that sadly may not be reversed until the Lord's return. We MUST speak out against this sinful, immoral behavior every chance we can (or until our courts follow Canada's example and try and silence us - God forbid - and even then, keep speaking out).

Call me a homo-phob, if you'd like.
I'd prefer "Theo-phob."

Not to worry...I'm sure the Gospel-loving scholars at the Jesus Seminar will go out of their way to renounce this play and its inaccuracies. </sarcasm>

No, in the 4 Gospels it does not DIRECTLY say that Jesus was not homosexual.

The Gospels further do NOT say that Christ was NOT a middle linebacker at NotreDame, on scholarship.

Thus, like So9, I conclude that He was.
