We live in an odd time.

It’s alarming.

The acceleration of evil is real, we aren’t imagining it.

He gasps for breath. Within a minute his face turns red and he chokes as he pleads for water.

This needs to be advertised everywhere.

This isn't "death with dignity", it is murder. Executed prisoners are treated better.

That is exactly what a majority of those here [United States] said, via their votes, they wanted.

If it ever comes down to this just go get my .357 and put one in my temple.

About 6 months ago I had to put our 13 yo pug "Toby" "to sleep". The doc told me he gave him a little more than normal because he was a big dog. He still suffered a death I would not wish on my enemy.

THIS is why we are so different:

Gen 2:7 And Jehovah God formed the man out of dust from the ground, and blew into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

I will bow to your greater experience in this area.

I’m still confused about why this seems to be such a difficulty, though.

We have the ability to routinely induce deep unconciousness through anesthesia, right?

So why not anesthetize someone, then switch the gas being fed through their mask to pure nitrogen? They’re unconcious, so they don’t feel anything, but death occurs within a few minutes from anoxia.

I’m even told that just feeding nitrogen to someone will quickly knock them unconcious, then kill them. Haven’t tried it personally. :)

Why do we make this so complicated?

As you say, bullet in the head or the guillotine are quick and presumably painless. Or if there is pain, it sure doesn’t last long. Although each method is a lot messier than a needle.

I can’t decide if I’m purely horrified or if there might
be some good coming of this.

We are forbidden to murder[01] Once one discards that
commandment, one is entering *undefined* territory.
One should not expect decency in *any* actions outside
the boundaries of the sanctity of life. This means that
one *cannot* expect a swift painless death, that one
will receive the “right” fatal chemical, that one won’t
be tortured, etc. ad infinitium. in-fines no limit.
[01] self defence and legal executions are a different
subject, OK?

Both.

The culture and climate that has brought us to this place that something like this has happened and been filmed IS horrifying.

The good that can come out of this is that people’s eyes can finally be opened to what REALLY is going on in this culture of death.

I was being sarcastic...you see, the “assisted suicide” movement often seduces the proud, but more often it is done because the person feels like a burden on their relatives...so when the relatives agree, they’re stuck with their choice...

If it was done for the patient, he would have slowly fallen asleep and died a few hours later. Many suicides even would change their mind if they didn’t have a “caretaker” holding their hand and encouraging them to relax and die....Because it was done for the relatives and the TV , the guy essentially wasn’t even given the last chance to change his mind...he had to be “hurried” along, so he died painfully.

I was pointing out the symptoms suggested this coercion part.

Like abortion of retarded/disabled kids, the propaganda is that the kids would suffer, but the real story is that the parents do it because they don’t want to be burdened (often they are frightened by medical personnel to chose abortion by medical personnel who exaggerate the problems, not the blessings...).

My young son’s pet rat was sick and the vet said it was some brain tumor or something common as rats age. We took him home and cared for him a bit longer. One night after my son had gone to sleep I went to look in on
“Marshmallow” (a white rat).

He was shaking and trying to crawl around his cage, but only one side of his body was working. He had been real quiet the two day’s prior. It was so sad, and we decided to take him to the vet the next morning. I would go back in though and he just kept trying to crawl, etc.

I thought I would do the humane thing and put it out of it’s misery. Thought the CO from the car would be the least painful way to do it here in suburbia, and put his entire home (his cage) in a bag attached to the exhaust.

I should have used a black bag. It only took two seconds, but his frantic attempts as he lost his air in those two seconds were terrible to see - and never forget. I still think I did the right thing - I think. Of course rats are a whole different thing than a human. I suppose I could have given the rat a sleeping pill or something to “make him more comfortable” - but what do I know.
