They have found hundreds of cremation urns in the river running through Zurich.

Some dignity.

I remember movies showing a society that watching people dying as a form of entertainment. I remember thinking how depraved that society had become....

I never thought at that time I would eventually live in a world that would find death so entertaining......

sad times

Millionaire hotelier Peter Smedley, 71, was filmed swallowing a lethal dose of the barbiturate Nembutal - helped down with a praline chocolate.

He gasps for breath. Within a minute his face turns red and he chokes as he pleads for water.

...

"He died peacefully, more or less in the arms of his wife, quietly."

Interesting definition of dying at peace. Not that I think that people should ever consider suicide under any circumstances, but there are far more quicker, and hence, less painful methods of ending one's own life.

I know there have been some horrid ages in the history of humanity.

But I can’t help but wonder if this is the absolute most death-glorifying culture and immoral of all the ages.

Not so much for the numbers and degrees of murders (such as the 110 million committed during the 20th century to try to make Marxism work) but the purely evil propaganda that those in the state-run media push in order to try to make the murderous State appear benevolent.

Looks like a government with a broke health care system preparing their citizens for cost savings measures. So do your patriotic duty and DIE QUICKLY!

Assisted suicide is murder, this is disgusting. How many little old ladies and men who’s heirs talk them into this because they have become feeble and ill, which makes for a very vulnerable person. It would be very beneficial to a person/s that are going to inherit the wealth to do something like this.

Christ should make all calls on life and death. If we beat Him to the punch, they’ll be hell to pay. Sad, ugly story, but typical of the selfish.

They made a huge mistake by allowing it to be videoed and shown on television.

The US Army long ago learned that there was *no* way for any photographs of dead people, friendly or enemy, to be aired without it having a negative effect on how people viewed the army.

So much so that the Quartermaster Corps, which is in charge of body recovery, has become masterful at clearing dead bodies from the sites of major battles before the press can take pictures. That is also why there was a strict prohibition on depicting flag draped coffins returning from the war in Iraq.

Remember the traumatic scene in the movie Saving Private Ryan, where a German soldier has pushed a knife into the chest of an American soldier, and is “shushing” him as he struggles to live while being killed?

This is what many in the public will see as this television show about euthanasia is aired.

While the pro-death types see it as beautiful and wonderful and peaceful, those thoughts exist only in their murderous minds. The typical normal person will be horrified.

I don't share Terry Pratchett's opinion - and I don't think most viewers of this will either. If this is "one-sided" programming (and without seeing it I don't know) it might turn out to be a spectacular "own goal" for the euthenasia lobby, much like

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu3gd2FulwY

was for the global warming eco warrior gang.

Prayer for Those Who Are Terminally Ill

Lord Jesus, you healed so many people during your public ministry. I bring before you now, in prayer, all those who are terminally ill -- those afflicted with cancer, AIDS, and other illnesses.

Look lovingly and compassionately upon them. Let them feel the strength of your consolation. Help them and their families to accept this cross they are asked to carry.  Protect them from euthanasia, Lord.

Let them see you carrying their cross with them, at their side, as you once carried yours to Calvary. May Mary be there, too, to comfort them.

Lord Jesus, I know and believe that, if it is your will, you can cure those I pray for (especially N.). I place my trust in you. I pray with faith, but I also pray as you did in Gethsemane: your will be done.

Bless us, Lord, and hear my prayer. Amen.

Must be the “in thing” on UK television. Last week, another of their programs had an “assisted suicide” to end a long story arc for a quadriplegic character. In that tale, it was the mother and boyfriend helping out.

Author Sir Terry Pratchett, who made the programme, says to a background of haunting pipe music: "This has been a happy event. He died peacefully, more or less in the arms of his wife, quietly."
Sir Terry, an Alzheimer's sufferer and supporter of euthanasia, tells clinic staff he was "impressed".

It saddens me that this is the "Discworld" author, Sir Terence David John "Terry" Pratchett, OBE, the second most popular British novelist after J.K.Rowling. Of course he is also a self-described Humanist and an Honorary Associate of the National Secular Society. He joined others in protesting the recent Papal state visit to Great Britain.

Thus it is not surprising that he feels that life is a disposable thing, I presume. Since he has announced the unfortunate onslaught of Alzheimer's Disease, I predict that he too will seek to end it before he is called home naturally. Very mixed feelings upon my part.

My first response is a short and rude phrase that would certainly cause the Religion Moderator to excise my message.

I am always amazed by these stories of executions or suicides that are traumatic or painful.

We seem to be able to routinely put dogs and cats “to sleep” without such problems.

Why are humans so different?
