Not only quicker and less painful...there are far less public way to kill yourself.

He was a millionaire. He could have hired a boat, headed out to the middle of the Atlantic, tied some weights to his legs and gone overboard...without a single camera rolling.

This “Happy Event” was less about the suicide and more about the publication of a homicide, that is, an attack on those who believe in the value of life and how our purpose is to preserve and improve life as much as possible, because that is God’s law.

Just as homosexuality is less about homosexual sex and relations and far more about pushing the homosexual agenda, that is, an attack on the definition of the family and the purpose and rules of sexuality, which are also God’s laws.

Well, maybe when more people see how "dignified" this death was, it may get others to reconsider this approach.

Show these types of things often enough and with enough flare and pretty soon the masses will think nothing of it. This is what happens to people who live without knowing God. Without love, without hope, and it's right there in front of them, but, they choose death instead. How utterly sad, sick and pitiful.

Worth repeating: Proverbs 8:36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."

He was a millionaire. He could have [chosen methods of suicide without agony or publicity]

Yes. So apparently he offered this spectacle as what he thought would be a service to humanity.

It is possible to look at the same scene and depending on the confessional perspective see different meanings. Thus a pagan would watch an execution happily, as a hunter observes his prey die, and a Christian would see Jesus Christ in the worst criminal. Likewise, what we see in the gasping for air and the convulsions might not be what the mass media apparatchiks expect you to see.

That a suffering man would seek an end to his suffering I can understand. But here we have something intended as a culture-forming event for all of us. We are supposed to learn to see ourselves as animals.
