Harold Camping responds to his failed May 21 Judgment Day prediction during a press conference Monday, May 23, 2011, at Family Radio headquarters in Oakland, Calif.
How about, "I am a senile old crank, don't listen to me." That should work.
If he is sincere, I commend him. It takes a big and not proud man to admit he was so wrong and he didn’t understand what was being said.
Didn’t his ministry take in something like $18Million in donations? Wasn’t there one person who committed suicide on the May 21st date and another lady who killed her animals and tried to kill her kid due to this guy?
In addition to attempting to correct his erroneous teachings on the Rapture and God's day of final judgment on the world, Camping, 90, also confessed, "incidentally," that he was wrong to claim that God had stopped saving people after May 21 – the date which God's so-called "spiritual" judgment had begun.
Camping: "Why didn't Christ return on Oct. 21? It seems embarrassing for Family Radio. But God was in charge of everything. We came to that conclusion after quite careful study of the Bible. He allowed everything to happen the way it did without correction. He could have stopped everything if He had wanted to....
....Incidentally, I have been told that I said back in May that people who did not believe that May 21 should not be the rapture date, probably had not been saved. I should not have said that, and I apologize for that.
I think the news is reading more into his speech than is really there....
Having read this statement it sounds to me like he is only apologizing for saying people wouldn’t be saved after his May rapture date. He doesn’t sound very apologetic about the rest of his predictions - only that he is still “learning”.
Camping is a loon. It is a mystery to me how so many people manage to be so gullible to believe in date-setters and other charlatans.
I really don’t see any apology in the statement, except the one where he said no one would be saved after May 21. I read no apology or repentance in it otherwise.

The headline said he was repenting, not doubling down and blaming God for his failures. This is one of the lamest excuses I’ve ever read.
He has done more for satan than Christ.
Here’s the quick translation: Donations fell like a rock after the world failed to end on time, and the old bible thumper just hasn’t got it in him to try again.

We are to keep watch. He commands us to. So let’s encourage one another to keep awake and stay frosty. But any date setting is a recipe for disaster and is fraught with pride.

Imho there is a doctor who over prescribes meds behind his faults of judgement. We should just pray for him. Just look at the pictures. He looks like a drugged up person.
