Atheists don't call themselves "atheists" anymore--it's "Free Thinker".

I don't call them atheist either. I call them god haters. They express their hatred by claiming that the Lord doesn't exist.

More likely he doesn't know anything at all ~ just gone ~ erased from the great mandala like he'd never really exist.

Hard to believe but there are people who imagine we just keep coming back and coming back and that we strive to get off it through advanced spiritual enlightenment, and there you have Chris Hitchens getting a free boot for being a gadfly philosophical debater. 2 Billion Buddhists and Hindus are undoubtedly screaming that it's just not fair!

I love having conversations with atheists like this:

“Don’t you know that Christianity is responsible for slavery, and murder, and ....”

“Well, you can’t relate that directly to the teachings of Christianity - the New Testament says nothing even close to that, but atheist governments killed 100 million people in the last 100 years.”

“WAIT THAT’S NOT TRUE AT ALL, THAT WASN’T A RESULT OF ATHEISM DIRECTLY!”

“Then why did Stalin conduct most of his gulag round-ups while his anti-religion purges were occurring? Why did Pol Pot purposefully slaughter 99% of the Buddhist monks of his country? Why is China imprisoning, torturing, and murdering Christians and the Falun Gong even today?”

*Atheist’s head explodes*

I always say that atheism is a religion. It boils the blood of the atheists who are the smartest people in the room. They will tell you themselves.

Yeah, if they deny it than I say, “God does not exist is a faith statement.” Then they usually go on about science, to which I say, “So science has never been wrong about anything.” Then they usually call me names.

Exactly.

“Don’t you know that Christianity is responsible for slavery, and murder, and ....”

So do they realize that statement says there was never any murder or slavery prior to the birth of Christ? :? Even non-Christian historians know better than that.

I heard this about 30 years ago on the NPR show "Ask Doctor Science": What is the difference between a scientist and an engineer?
Scientists are bearded, balded, and are atheists. Engineers have crew cuts, wear glasses, and are Lutheran.
I have to laugh at this because it seems that half of the men at our church (WELS Lutheran) are engineers working in the auto industry. I live in suburban Detroit, by the way.

Although questions abound as to whether Chesterton actually said this, I think it’s appropriate here: “A man who won’t believe in God will believe in anything.”
