The Book of Revelation was Written Before AD 70

John received the Revelation prior to AD 70, to encourage and prepare the Church for the events leading to the vision's imminent fulfillment. I believe therefore, Christ's second coming described in the Revelation took place during the ‘great and the dreadful day of the Lord’ in AD 70. On that 'day' of judgement, Old Covenant Israel ended with the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem; the remaining survivors of the Jewish nation were enslaved and dispersed throughout the Roman Empire. Futurists, Dispensationalism in particular, adamantly oppose this view by insisting on a post-AD 70 date, in an attempt to refute Preterism. However, the AD 95 date is heavily dependent on the writings of certain Church Fathers, primarily a 2nd century quotation taken from the writing of Irenaeus, found in the works of Eusebius, Book 5, and Chapter 8.

All the Lord's promises to Old Covenant Israel were fulfilled by AD 70, with the establishment of the New Covenant Age.

sure.

All you have to do to believe this is change the language to spiritualize its meaning.

And deny the reality of Satan still unbound.

I’m a “pan-millenialist.”

What ever happens, I believe it will pretty much pan out the way God intends.

The totality of the evidence suggests that we don’t know exactly when John received the Revelation. There are lots of questions and few answers, all dealing with a small window of time 2000 years ago. We don’t know.

Unfortunately, 70 AD was not the final fulfillment of the prophecy and you who are deceived therein need to search the Scriptures as Israel will be in the land of the original Israel as God works to bring in the Kingdom of Heaven for the 1000 year rule of Jesus Christ on the earth in Zion, He is re establishing Israel for the return of Jesus Christ to rule there as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and His plan can not be stopped by wars and politicians and false teachings, of which replacement theology is but one and God the Father will disannul. God says, man says, God always wins as He is Creator of all things visible and invisible. Known unto God are all His Works from the beginning. God is the Creator and Sustainor of all life, the angels in heaven and man on the earth, all souls are His, the soul that sins shall surely die.

“Charles Meek has a BA degree from Duke University and an MBA from St. Edwards University.”

Poor credentials to even understand the totality of Scripture. This is the first recommended resource of the author of this article.

..Israel’s worst and best days are ahead. Spiritualizing the OT gave birth to Replacement Theology, which is what is being advanced here. Dispensationalism may have its problems, but at least there is an honest attempt at interpreting both Old and New Testaments consistantly...

The author of this article is using some of the same arguments that Sir Isaac Newton used to show that Revelation was written early rather than late. Although, Newton comes to a different conclusion.

His evidence is a bit lengthier than given in this article.

If you miss this, then you miss that Christ came to restore us to the relationship with God as it had been with Adam and Eve before their first sin. THAT is the Good News. Satan existed then and he exists now, but we have been inoculated by the blood of Jesus against his power over us.

Alleluia!!

Meant to note that Newton wrote this in 1733. Wasn’t that a year after George Washington was born?

Any of you history experts out there:

Did you see 1,000 years of peace right after 70? If so, did what happened after those 1,000 years match what the Bible said would happen?

Did you see the heart of everyone on Earth turn to G-d?

Did you see a new Temple built?

Did you see all of the Jews returned to Israel, including the 10 Lost Tribes?

No????? OK, then, the Messiah did NOT come in 70. More like the diametric opposite.

Satan as an independent an opposing force to G-d Almighty, Creator of the universe and all that is in it...that is an interesting concept, one that utterly contradicts the idea of an omnipotent Creator. IOW, blasphemy.

Listen, Satan is an angel. He/It was mentioned in Jewish literature (most specifically the Book of Job, as “el Satan”, “the tempter”) as the angel in charge of tempting humans.

At G-d’s direction, and to exactly the degree that He wants.

So Satan is G-d’s SERVANT, not His enemy or rival. There can be NO rival. How many times does G-d have to say that “There were none before Me, there will be none after Me, and there will be none beside Me” before people understand that G-d, and G-d alone, rules every plane of existence? There is NO Devil.

The author of the book pegs Revelation (& the other NT books) as being written before 70 A.D.

Very extensively researched.

So, what will bring Israel to repentance if the Trubulation is already accomplished?

I believe God is great enough that He can inspire writings that are true for the times... and true for all time.

All Christ’s words were true in the present moment, and true for each one of us living today. His words are general and, simultaneously, very personal. When He spoke, He was speaking to an individual, to everyone for all time, and to me.

Revelation was a message for the Jews, who come first in God’s eyes; the Jews of the day, the Jews for all time, and for all the rest of us.

I guess I am one—but I think this writer makes a good argument, in as far as it goes.
