Are there people that fake a spiritual behavior?....I don’t doubt it for a second. A spiritual pastor knows how to handle it.
But, also keep in mind that when the Holy Ghost fell on the 120, in the upper room, they were praising God in languages that were not their native tongue. Was that any reason for the onlookers to accuse them of being drunk? I think that their praise must have been exuberant and joyful.
God doesn’t do things without a reason. The “foreign” languages weren’t foreign to those that spoke that language. The purpose of different tongues is to communicate to those present that speak that different tongue. God confused the languages at Babel and He can un-confuse them at His desire.
**The foreign languages werent foreign to those that spoke that language.**
They weren’t foreign to the ones listening, because they were hearing the languages of their origin. But they were amazed to hear Gallileans speaking those foreign tongues. And with God giving them that power, I sure they spoke it perfectly, not like a first year French student, for example.
There ARE unknown languages:
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels..” 1Cor. 13:1
“For he that speaketh with an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him: howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.” 1Cor. 14:2
People that fake tongues, or emotions (whether it be in singing, prayer, or praise), sadly, are mostly hurting themselves. And don’t you just hate the phony testimony: “I love the Lord with all my heart”, when you are certain that nobody really does. Even Paul said, “I die daily”. We try. Some harder than others.
