FULL TITLE: 'There's a little bit of sadness': Female reverend reveals how she had an abortion 12 years ago during a crumbling marriage

A female reverend has revealed how she had an abortion nearly 12 years ago and how the mother-of-one suffered some sadness in not having two children.

Reverend Susan Chorley was in a crumbling marriage, had a two-year-old son and was stressed out as relatively new pastor when she decided to get an abortion.

Since June, the 44-year-old has begun to publicly reveal her secret as she speaks at seminars for a project she has launched with other women who have had abortions as a way to advocate for 'pro-voice' discussions.

Chorley, of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, said she had to confront the issue when her son asked her about abortions and the Boston-area minister admitted she had a bit of sadness over not having a second child.

Of course she did. One would suppose the seminary she attended did not teach her that abortion was _________? (fill in the blank)

I’ve heard that many women regret their abortions down the road. This topic is not talked about very much.

Point being there are ramifications felt by women afterwards. The leftists talk of abortion as being a choice, they encourage us to be pro choice and treat abortion like any medical procedure. But in doing so we completely overlook what a woman feels.

Like many people (even the supposed “religious”), she lives in a fog of moral relativism, although it seems some faint light of God’s Natural Law is peaking through to cause her a bit of confusion and cognitive dissonance.

Chorley is currently the Associate Director and Minister of Programs for the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry in Roxbury, Massachusetts.

I was trying to figure out what religion this confused woman is. The article earlier says two places Baptist but apparently is now Unitarian Universalist, whatever that is.

Chorley said the group's pro-voice message is aimed at stopping the labels of pro-life and pro-choice, and wants to focus on listening to women's stories.

No equal time for the murdered babies' stories?

She said to CNN: 'We try to put people in boxes, and it hasn't gotten us anywhere. It's just caused this huge divide.

'Abortion is happening among us and it's time we looked at it and talked about it.'

Pro-lifers looked at it, saw it was murder, and talk about that.

It’s worse than that. You all need to watch the video there are several women there from other faiths in denial. This is unreal. These chicks are putting up blinders on their eyes.

Plenty of studies have shown that major depression is typical for those who’ve had abortions - a little bit of sadness may be nothing compared to what’s coming down the pike for this woman.....

There are DISASTERS afterwards. Two of my gal friends from many years ago, when i was in my early thirties, were STILL in depressions from abortions that had happened 10 or more years ago.

One resorted to cutting. I was in love with her but one day she just stopped returning my calls and we never spoke again.

She would often tell me she felt like God was punishing her for something (she didn’t know I knew about the abortion).

I told her God doesn’t work that way if you’re truly repentant for what you did. He forgives.

But she was too far into despair over the whole thing.

If her marriage was failing, why did she get pregnant? Seems to me caution is called for when you see a flashing red light ahead.

How many others will follow her example, especially since she is a pastor (which the two to me are mutually exclusive)? I don't like to condemn, I try very hard not to condemn women who have had abortions because God is their judge, but it does seem she is feeling a lot of guilt deep down; hence the need for public confession and telling her son.

Maybe the son sensed something was missing anyway; I've read many times a sibling, moreso with one born after, often "know", whether through abortion or miscarriage. But I don't know if it was wise to tell him as how could he not think, no matter what she says, "Did she want to abort me, too?"

American Baptists are an old splinter from the Southern Baptists. They have been liberal since their founding.

Women pastors was one of the issues.

Their membership has been in decline for many years.

They have just recently formally accepted sodomite marriage and sodomites into the ministry.

She was sad FOR HERSELF, that she didn’t have a second child, not for having had an abortion. I am sure she would do it again once she had her preferred family size.
