We do try.

And we do well. I know MANY hospitals in Manhattan that treat MANY poor and chronically ill free of charge and then there are the places like St. Jude’s

As for the mentally ill, I was in psych after my brain injury several times. (Hard injury to adjust to)

People with SEVERE mental illness are treated with dignity and these were NOT private hospitals.

They were AWFUL even 25 years ago, some of these same ones.

Like St. Vincent’s on Staten Island. But they’ve cleaned up their acts and treatment tremendously.

Problem is we have a lot of mentally ill people on the streets. Either drug/alcohol abuse or other forms of mental illness. These people can’t hack the meds for their illness because of the side affects. Most often they end up in jails/prisons. This is not good and not ways to treat them.

We need better meds without the side affects. I’m so shocks we are still using drugs made in the 1950’s and not much new has come along. Come on it’s 2017 this is the best we can do?
