Bp. McGrath’s letter on sacramental service
In the Light of the Law ^ | July 5, 2017 | Dr. Edward Peters

In 1977, during the darkest period of canonical confusion that ran from the end of the Second Vatican Council until the promulgation of the 1983 Code, then-Fr Patrick McGrath earned a doctoral degree in canon law from the Lateran University in Rome. Now-Bp Patrick McGrath of San Jose is surely aware, then, that multiple canonical requirements for sacramental participation exist and he would, I imagine, be distressed to learn that his recent letter, implying that “good faith” is the only criterion for admission to the sacraments, could be pastorally misleading.

The bishops of the U.S. have voted multiple times to give themselves the authority to commit mortal sin, in their document "Catholics in Political Life." There, they said that a bishop may "legitimately" give pro-abortion politicians Communion. This is a mortal sin.

Bishop McGrath is simply following up on the principle already established by the assembled bishops of the U.S.: The bishops have voted themselves the right to commit mortal sin.

Because of Francis’ refusal to state himself distinctly and clearly on anything to do with the sacraments, he emboldens every liberal bishop in the country to do whatever he feels like doing. They take their lead from Francis. They know he has their back because he’s one of them. Jesus weeps.

This is the first schism in which the Pope will separate himself from the Catholic Church along with most bishops.

The new church has existed in Europe and the Americas for fifty years. It is socialist and pro-abortion.

Every active pro-lifer has known for forty-some years that there are only 10-15 Catholic bishops in the U. S.
