Charlie Gard Hospital Slams ‘World Where Only Parents Decide for Children’

LONDON, England, July 19, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – A July 13 document from the hospital refusing to release baby Charlie Gard reveals it doesn't think parents should be the only ones who have a say in what happens to their kids.

Dominican Father Thomas Petri shared a portion of the document on Twitter. The paragraphs he highlighted are deeply troubling to those who think parents rather than hospital and government bureaucrats should decide the fate of their children.

The full document can be accessed here.

Charlie's case has captured the world's attention.

Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is arguing in court that it should be able to decide to pull the 11-month-old's life support against his parents' wishes. His parents have raised more than $1.5 million to bring him to the U.S. for cutting-edge treatment. So far, English and European courts haven't even let them bring Charlie home for his last few hours of life, let alone to another country to continue his care.

"A world where only parents speak and decide for children and where children have no separate identity or rights and no court to hear and protect them is far from the world in which GOSH treats its child patients," according to the hospital.

A world where parents are nothing but donors is not a world I want to live in.

I do not want my children to be subject to the will of whoever says they know best.

The bias should always be toward the parents, and in a close case, the bias should be toward life.

I slam a world where lawyers, judges and hospital bureaucrats decide “for” children. They are sick in the head, those hospital people.

Children have no free speech, as they are the extentionmof the speech representation of their parents whompay for them. This hospital belongs with ISIS and other speech entitlements for they tax the parent speech to subsidize a speech they cannot even afford on their own dime.

In a sane world the admin of this hospital would be hanging from the street posts outside. But we don’t live in a sane world, and I expect that by the time I die it will be much, much worse. Children may be handed off at birth to be raised by the government, never to see their parents again.

These people would have no speech and no say were it not for tax payers refreaining their own speech moneys. They are just like a college brat fed by his parents and using that good food they did not earn to treat said parents like non college peasant garbage.

The only people that should have a say are the parents. It’s THEIR offspring, not the state’s.

Well, “GOSH,” I find that quite disturbing.

Severe neglect or abuse is one thing, but this is the opposite—the parents are trying to save their son’s life!!!

People who think like that should be hospitalized.

Did I miss a statement from the NY doctor? When is the court case going to resume? I thought we’d hear something in court. If that’s the case, then why is GOSH restating its case now? Who are they working so hard to convince?

IMO they’re a bunch of pro death nazi bastards. Guess I remain unconvinced.

They want a world in which children have rights separate from parents? A good starting point for that would be to assume that a child who cannot speak would choose to be kept alive.

In their twisted minds death is the obvious thing this child would choose so no one, not even parents whose love for Charlie is trumped only by Jesus, should be allowed to pursue life.

Maddening and evil.
