Petition to stop "P*** Christ" display in Texas Art Museum
America Needs Fatima ^ | July 24, 2017 | America Needs Fatima

Posted on 07/24/2017 9:55:34 PM PDT by Morgana

The notorious “P*** Christ!” is a photo of a beautiful crucifix immersed in a famous artist’s own urine - - - and popularized without merit by a fawning art world and press. (Above, I’ve suppressed the vulgar ‘P’ expression which the artist used as its official title).

And it’s being hosted by the art gallery The Station Museum of Contemporary Art in Houston, Texas.

This is a high-profile, sacrilegious desecration of Our Lord’s holocaust on His cross, plunged in the artist’s own urine.

You and I cannot sit by idly and do nothing about this awful blasphemy! We must do reparation and lift up our voices in peaceful and prayerful protest.

Silence and indifference serves only to encourage and give free-rein to the promoters of blasphemy to push their agenda.

God does not need our help to defend His honor, but He does require our love for Him be made manifest.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to...

In the old days this man would have been burned at the stake.

Why provide free publicity to this exhibit?

"Art" indeed!

This has about as much cultural value as someone taking a dog turd from the lawn and displaying it in a frame. Do the same with a picture of Mohammad and now you've got something; at least that would show some courage.

Do the same with a picture of mohammed and they’d declare jihad on us. Christians should have put an end to this nonsense long ago.

Why don’t they be really edgy and put a Koran in urine? Didn’t think so...

How do we put an end to it? There’s no putting an end to blasphemy in a free society. It can be condemned, protested, etc., but there isn’t any way to “end it”, at least not without using jihadist-like tactics. Is that your intent?

Consider it a Nehushtan submerged in urine and forget it.

Of course the House just appropriated $500 million to the National Endowment of the Arts to fund this sort of travesty!!!

Can we show it besides “art” where popular progressive leaders are shown suspended in a jar of pee?

Thought not.

Put an image of the muzzie book in a bucket of urine.

Then you’re showing some courage.

Picking on Christianity? no big deal anymore.

And getting burned at the stake would be an absurd and overdone response. :)

Let them have their time now...

Sr. Wendy Beckett said that Piss Christ contained a luminous Christ figure shining clearly and unstoppable through all the filth of this world. The light of Christ shines everywhere and all.

That gives Piss Christ a place in the narrative of the world of art without wasting a lot of anger on it. That seems healthier.

You are free to give it any interpretation you want. In fact, that’s heavily encouraged in most contemporary art centers. The artist is no longer the final arbiter of his work.

Call it hate speech and see how they respond? They are liberal bigots. It is a private entity (but that work of art was publicly funded).

They were associated with this bit of anti-Christian/anti-sememitic hate speech as well (they may not have been directly tied to it but they hosted the artist and seemed to take enjoyment in his act of vandalism):

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2006 AT 4 A.M

In the documentary POPaganda, on view at the Station Museum as part of the "Power Pathos" group exhibition, artist Ron English says billboard liberators are modern-day superheroes. These alterers of advertisements move among us, their lives fairly normal on the surface, but they have secret identities, secret hideouts and a secret agenda to subvert the visual noise thrown in our faces every day, the repetitive ballyhooing of everything from electric razors to Christianity.

English knows what he's talking about. Right around the time he was in town to paint a larger-than-life-size interpretation of Pablo Picasso's Guernica, a couple of billboards appeared around town bearing his distinctive mark. One, at the corner of Montrose and Fairview, was a picture of Jesus piloting a spaceship. The other, right down the street from the Station, had the Lord and Savior holding a Budweiser with the caption "King of Jews. King of Beers." We're not saying English had any part in these culture jams -- hey, he'll come forward if he wants to -- but anyone familiar with his work has seen images like these before...

http://www.popaganda.com/ronsnews/ron-englishs-meditations-on-street-art/

I put up a billboard in Baltimore some years ago. “The King of the Jews for the King of Beers.” It was one of the first legal billboards I’d ever done. It was for an arts festival, and the organizers actually built a billboard structure to display it. Three days later the billboard was vandalized and destroyed. The attack on the billboard spawned national press attention. Two hundred Christian radio stations went on about it for over a week. I called a couple of the stations and said “Hey, I’m the guy who painted the billboard you have been going on about. Could I come on air and say what I was thinking when I created it?” The answer, “We don’t care what you think”. I’d already had my say, now it was their turn. So the billboard lasted three days as a physical object and two weeks as media fodder. But the idea was out of my head and in the public consciousness. Mission accomplished.

----

The one in Baltimore was a different piece of art (commissioned hate) by the same artist.

The one in Houston was illegal use of a commercially leased sign (that did not sponsor his hate).

When this “art” was first introduced in 1987 there was a lot of controversy because it had received fundining from NEA. Jesse Helms and Al Damato railed against it and there was controversy when it was shown in other countries. But even 30 years ago the media was pure leftist and critics were dismissed as rubes or Christian fundamentalists.

The fact is the courts have consistently permitted anti-Christian and anti-Catholic blasphemy as free speech and there are no shortage of cases explaining why Christians (as the majority culture) had to accept the ability of people to ridicule their religion, as the cost for their having the ability to freely practice that religion. How times have changed.

We now have the same leftist scum simultaneously trying to brand as “hate” passages of the Bible that condemn homosexuality or Church teaching on the role of women, while condemning as “islamophobia” anyone who dares criticize the truly hateful and murderous cult of Islam. We should fully expect to see court decisions outlawing Christian teaching that offends liberals, and outlawing conservative criticism of Islam. It’s bizarro world.
