The Catholic Church has always chosen the world over doctrine, unfortunately. There are still many good Catholic Christians, however.

The problem with the Catholic Church is not bad doctrine, but bad discipline: people teaching and living in a manner contrary to Catholic faith and morals.
The world would have a whole lot less problems if Catholics were really Catholic.
