A Missouri woman who is an adherent of the Satanic Temple won a victory in court last week in her quest to show that state abortion law violates her religious beliefs.

The Western District Court of Appeals ruled in her favor Tuesday, writing that her constitutional challenge — rare for its basis in religion — presented “a contested matter of right that involves fair doubt and reasonable room for disagreement.”

The woman, identified as Mary Doe in court documents, argued that her religion does not adhere to the idea that life begins at conception, and, because of that, the prerequisites for an abortion in Missouri are unconstitutionally violating her freedom of religion protected by the First Amendment.

But again, this assumes that the fetus is not a living person with his/her own set of inalienable rights

Maybe she doesn’t believe that murder of an adult is evil either. Should she then be allowed to murder because it is sanctioned by her religious beliefs? When Human life begins is a scientific question as much as it is religious and more sure in science because religions vary. There is no point after conception that from a scientific viewpoint can be claimed as the beginning point of a human life. The only rational point is conception itself.

You are correct sir. She might think she will be free to worship Satan in Hell. That is not going to happen. When she arrives there, she might think she was a little hasty in her decision, but for her, and billions of others, it will be too late. What they are on the day of their death, is what they will be forever.

That is what the religion of peace does, but they both worship the god of this world, so it’s not strange that they both have similar tactics.

Agreed. What she is now-—spiritually dead—is what she will be forever, with a body that outwardly resembles the eternally rotten state of her inner person, hence a horror forever.

Some religious beliefs do not deserve to be protected.

Te protection clause is predicated on the practice of Christian faith. Any faith that does not comport with Christianity in at least general terms (respect for moral authority) is not protected. That is the foundation upon which the entirety of the Constitution is based.

An adult killing is nothing more than a post abortion.

Yes, I think they will receive bodies that will be equal to their dark hearts, and you are right, a literal, physical, spiritual horror forever. I have no doubt they would annihilate themselves out of existence if they could, but they can’t.

What if your “religion” does not forbid the taking of another person’s life? Do you suppose that would exempt you from homicide laws?

What if your relihion forbade you from baking a cake that endorsed a sexual perversion? Would you be allowed to plead it as a defense?
