Requesting Prayer to cover proposed musical ministry
Nov 21, 2017 | HiTech RedNeck

This is a religious "vanity" and I don't know if Jim Rob or the mods will let it stay up, but I ask if possible that if it can't stay here, that it be sent to Bloggers and Personal rather than losing history.

TOPICS: Charismatic Christian; Evangelical Christian; Mainline Protestant; Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
Hello dear evangelical and Protestant FReepers (in this case I am pretty specific about that audience -- if Orthodox and Catholic want to try to support, fine -- if you want to razz me, razz away but expect to get answered, too)

For several years, I and an evangelical friend of mine have been collaborating on songwriting. This began with secular or semi-secular country-western songs, which might mention the Lord once or twice, but progressed towards gospel songs, some of which have run up hundreds of listens on Soundcloud.

What we want to beg of "religious" FReeperdom is PRAYER SUPPORT. That the Lord make a way for our songs if they are a valid ministry which I believe they show a number of signs of being.

Some of them may come off as offbeat, for example "A Humble Redneck I Was Born" -- which gets at Christian themes in a way both humorous and serious, like the tone of Psalm 2. I believe all of them in a Christian vein occupy a very little occupied niche of either prophetic or praise song.

Anyhow, my buddy and I have been drawing a great deal of spiritual flak in our lives, and the reason has finally dawned on me -- we have been readying weapons but have set up little or no prayer support over it.

I'd like to "draft" the help of willing FReepers to correct this oversight, at least till we can get something better going.

One possibility would be to ask the Swaggart radio ministries (which were set up by the former disgraced televangelist, now running an operation with integrity) to take this under their spiritual wing. I don't know what they have set up for the purpose of spiritual coverage, but sitting right in the middle of voodoo territory like they are (Baton Rouge) I'd think they couldn't even keep it up if they didn't have something. The reason I mention Swaggart is that they asked my buddy for copies of all of our songs just about a week ago, and I'm getting ready to add one more key song of my buddy to my Soundcloud listings.

Anyhow, my material can be seen here:

https://soundcloud.com/daniel-levy-6/

Again, some of this is secular or semi-secular, and doesn't need coverage as it wouldn't be presented as such. But at the least we'd like prayer that blowback from our previous publishing wouldn't harm the rest. (Songs like Oh, The Smoke for instance, which are thought provoking and intended to put a "cleaner" angle on an otherwise demimonde topic, but not necessarily gospel themed.)

Thanks for prayer and any specific constructive suggestions along with it.

Redneck / Daniel aka "Hawk" Ronnie aka "Eagle"

a random ping... please feel free to avalanche this with appropriate pings... thanks

and, Jim and John Rob to apologize/ask for the thread to be moved if necessary, if it can’t stay here. This is spiritually serious Jim and John, if anything was. Thanks for understanding, Jim and John.

Though actually... a case could be made for symbolism in “Oh, The Smoke.” My secular songs sometimes turn out symbolic that way. But one step at a time.

And I never thought I’d be rah-rah on Protestant... partly because I have been nondenominational or Baptist, which both shy away from the term, especially since they don’t want to be raising any quarrels with the Roman Catholic wing of the church.

But ultimately. What are we protesting about. If it isn’t for our Lord Jesus, it really is for naught. We need to go long or go home. We don’t really care if we are protesting against some lukewarm Christianity or the world... in fact protesting against the world might be less bad because it really has no way to know.

Yeah. I’m spoiling for a spiritual fight now, and the devil knows it. Which is why I need you guys’ and gals’ prayers. And Jim and John’s support here. If ever FR sat in a spiritual crossroads in recent times... this might be IT. Look at Let’s MAGA.

Thanks for understanding and supporting. And yeah... I got into some razzing of Jesuit (not even mainstream Roman Catholic) stuff earlier tonight, and might have done better not to. But I got spiritual fight in my craw now. Devil, Ronnie and I are gonna stomp you flat in America, the good Lord granting us the grace!

Hey thanks... though that’s kind of an odd moniker (success by worldly or spiritual standards?) I’d take it too if it’s what it seems.

Well anyhow it looks like I’m in an awkward spot. I could easily get “proud of my humility.”

Which goes round to why asking the prayers in the first place. I’ve introduced most if not all these songs at various times in the past on FR and gotten generally good comments, as well as seeing the listener numbers bump up on Soundcloud.

This isn’t even anything really super new (Let’s MAGA is the newest). This is something that has already passed a number of FReep tests, mostly. What I’m asking for is the spiritual impetus behind it that comes from prayer. At one point I thought God would just have someone automagically step up. It ain’t so simple, I have come to understand, and some of that from bible review. PRAYER — asking God for these spiritual successes (which I didn’t immediately see at that website, at least) is part of the push. Some soul or souls cared enough not just to bump up my earthly listen numbers, but asked God to listen and bless.

I can’t completely knock the role of methodology for helping around the edges; however when you got a spiritual bulls eye, the arrow can look pretty dorky and still do what it has to do. In fact Jesus was a dork of his day... redneck is a very close rendition of what He’d be. Redneck has gotten cool lately but I think that’s because people are starting to see that this is a picture of Jesus! Whose fame is well established in American fundamentalist Christendom.

OK, I got confused.

You “can” join that Facebook group apparently without the commercial affiliation to Nashville Christian Songwriters. You just have to agree to what they want.

Since I’m not going to post a bunch of things for promo but just link to my general Soundcloud page for reference, along with explaining why I believe we’re in a special niche and requesting prayer here for the songs’ sake and not even for mine, I believe I can go along with this. I won’t be knocking other songs or spamming with mine. That isn’t the point here. I didn’t notice the prayer part but again that might just be me being new to it. And of course anyone CAN pray.

for naught It behooveth me to entreat thee, swounds, refrain, nay, I say restrain unto thy utmost that thou speakst to all men, lest it be for naught.

Thanks Eagle.

And it might be a lot of hurry up and wait, for all I know.

I’ve been discovering a lot of satanic kickback at friends, or former friends who misunderstood what has transpired. Getting that situation shored up could also be important.

I do believe that (and this is a result of consideration over several years) I’ve got a message that could, under the right circumstances, speak to a level that we haven’t even seen spoken to for ages. And Satan doesn’t want non-superficial religion/faith. He wants the stuff that is part politeness, part selfishness.

And I would be amiss, I think, not to remind FR people (however gently) that even America is but an instrument in God’s hands, to raise glory to Him, much preferably through blessing, but if the blessing is adamantly refused, through suffering the consequences. We need to let God be the cornerstone again, perhaps even in a better way than our forebears did. Yes! We could, by grace of God accepted, rise higher than the founding fathers, having learned some lessons along the way.

Your several comments indicate that increasingly you are open to letting God direct you in this. With eagleone, my prayer is that you relinquish your ministry and instead let God accomplish His will, whether that be through the ministry's "failure" or "success." His first priority is our increasing faith and wisdom.

Well yes, thank you for the reminder.

As I mentioned to the Successful Christian Songwriter group on Facebook, in my original confession I gave credit to Jesus as being the “vehicle” of my salvation. He doesn’t just drive my car. He IS my car!

It’s so easy to wrap this puppy up in my pride and then it goes nowhere until it gets unwrapped again. I am still sometimes a stumbling sinner. But I’m seeing things that are straining, straining, straining to break out of mortal boxes. To the point of being rather disrespectful towards convention. Jesus a humble redneck? Well you better believe it. Now that isn’t a 24/7 role, but it keeps showing up in His earthly life, and it wasn’t I who went in as a “redneck” (at the point of my confession, I was quite the city slick by lifestyle).
