Skip to comments.[Daniel Study 2018]. Introduction [23 Jan 2018]
Posted on 01/25/2018 1:24:48 AM PST by JohnThree3to16
The purpose of this post is to begin what I hope to be a yearlong (2018) in depth study of the book of Daniel.
Making real world application as we go along and encourage participation across all religious faiths, denominations, ethnicity and religious creeds and cultures.
FULL Disclosure: As a Christian it is my sincere desire to always - always - always include the GOSPEL message as part of each discussion. Reason being, simply discussing the Historical Daniel without driving home the point of his message (Vision of future events - which have not yet come) would be tragic in my view
3 Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a] 4 How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mothers womb to be born! 5 Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, You[c] must be born again. 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.[d] 9 How can this be? Nicodemus asked. 10 You are Israels teacher, said Jesus, and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaventhe Son of Man.[e] 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[f] 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.[g] 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

Just out of curiosity - which, if any, denomination is the church aligned with?
If there is a ping list for this study I would like to be on it
Welcome to FR.
A word of advice.
Establish a history for yourself on FR.
None : I am Active Duty Military temporarily assigned to the Oklahoma State University area. They have a great college reach out and many college students visit this church when away from home.
My account is too new. There is a long delay between my posts and when they appear in forum. Also I cant send or receive messages or update my profile. I assume this is to prevent new members from spamming.
I plan on sticking with this discussion. As I read posts from so many folks of varying religious backgrounds. I think a study of History and its impact on world future events is common among most faiths. Again, full disclosure I am a Christian and my world view is not always the traditional judeo Christian worldview. I will not hesitate to disagree respectfully with those of different faith on matters of theology but in matters of history there is little disagreement among faiths. But in terms of future events there is plenty of room for respectfully different opinions. Which is what I value most in this series.
Unrelated to Daniel Study itself. But relevant as we BEGIN this study let us all purpose to learn what God would speak to us personally through this study that I intend to participate in with you.
Let us not care as much about what I say or anyone else says to or about us . But rather hear from God directly what He wants to communicate to us as we study and discuss.
You are being given probation.
FR has had bad experiences in the past with noobs.
Please feel free to comment on the introduction. Each video in the series is only 30mins and they build on each other with a lot of repetitive tie ins especially in terms of historical timeline which is key to understanding the future events where there is often differences of opinion which is fine . I look forward to the discussions.
Looks like sound Biblical exposition. Good for you for posting it. I’ll be following along.
I've been leading our small home group through Daniel, with chapter 9 next. With that familiarity, I question your take:
Is not the ultimate point that God is making that He is in full control? He prophesies those future events in order to demonstrate His sovereignty. Please consider.
My take on Daniel is that his message points to Christ and ultimately Jesus Christ Himself makes reference to Daniel. Also much of the NT book of Revelation makes reference to Daniel which ultimately explains future events, specifically the Rapture, tribulation, JSOC, GWTJ
Before I post the link to lesson 1. Is there any discussion needed on the intro itself?
Does anyone disagree with historical timeline presented in the intro?
Question : do we need to define any terms used?
Question: do you agree that there will be a PRE-tribulation rapture quote end-quote . The term rapture does not actually exist in the text. The rapture removal of the believers before the 7 year tribulation is often a point of contention among Biblical scholars so it is ok to express disagreement and continue with the study of Daniel.

The Captivity (Daniel 1:1-6)
Inasmuch as you’ve already summarily ignored and dismissed my well-founded recommendation, without apparently slowing down even to consider or respond to its main points, I’m puzzled why you bother turning to me now for these latest requests.
Born again is a mistranslation, the correct; Except a man be born from above...
עַל ʻal, al; properly, the same as H5920 used as a preposition (in the singular or plural often with prefix, or as conjunction with a particle following); above, over, upon, or against (yet always in this last relation with a downward aspect) in a great variety of applications:above, according to(-ly), after, (as) against, among, and, × as, at, because of, beside (the rest of), between, beyond the time, × both and, by (reason of), × had the charge of, concerning for, in (that), (forth, out) of, (from) (off), (up-) on, over, than, through(-out), to, touching, × with.
Soul and body...
Yeshua clears it up...
5 Yeshua answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!
Born above מְּקוֹר עָל
מָקוֹר mâqôwr, maw-kore'; or מָקֹר mâqôr; from H6979; properly, something dug, i.e. a (general) source (of water, even when naturally flowing; also of tears, blood (by euphemism, of the female pudenda); figuratively, of happiness, wisdom, progeny):fountain, issue, spring, well(-spring).
My posts are severely delayed because I am new here. I thought I responded to your post. I dont reslly want to debate theology as much as I would like discuss the historical chronology of events and what relevance it is to future events. And just to make it interesting if you agree or disagree with the 30 min introduction ? I would like to take the entire year of 2018 diving into the nitty gritty details of the history and the prophecy in Daniel and Revelation
