Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Meditating Upon The Names and Attributes of God

"YHVH Borei - GOD The Creator"

(Old Testament)

Isaiah 40:28

28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

(End of Scripture Passage)

"YHVH Borei - GOD The Creator"

The Hebrew Blessing over The Sabbath (and Passover) Wine includes the word "borei" (borei p'ri hagoffin). The word means "To Create" or to "Bring Forth" the fruit of the vine. In the verse from the Beloved Chapter 40 of the Prophet Isaiah, the Term is used in a Compound Name For Father God. It shares a root with the Word "Created" in the First Line of Genesis (In The Beginning, God Created the Heavens and The Earth). In Judeo-Christian Belief, this Creation was "ex-nihilo"…out of NOTHING.

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Lord and Heavenly Father
King of Kings,
And Lord of Lords!
You are The Creator,
Everything That Exists is the Product of Your Magnificent Imagination!
You Are SO Awesome in All Your Ways
When I Look at Landscapes, or Starscapes,
Or Contemplate the Workings of the Human Brain,
The Development of a Baby in the Womb,
Or the Intricacies of the DNA Molecule,
What can I do, but Be Struck with Awesome Wonder,
And Say, "HOW GREAT THOU ART!"

May the Leaders of Our Own Beloved USA
Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It was my first week in College as a began my journey as a Graphic Design Major. Since it was to be a four-year degree, our Art Courses would be in addition to the required academic subjects. I had received a scholarship from the Boston Globe, had worked the previous summer as a Long-Distance Operator, and was living at home, so I expected an easy ride financially! The first few classes were fairly easy, and it was possible to purchase used textbooks from the Sophomores, so I saved money on English, History, Political Science, etc books, and I saw little dent in my saved-up money (which promised a FUN year ahead!).

Then, I got to Painting Class, which was taught by the man who invented Acrylic Paints, which were still struggling for recognition in the World of Oil Painting. The solution was, of course, to buy TWO COMPLETE SETS of painting supplies; paints in tubes, brushes, medium solutions (there are several for both types), canvas prep stuff, brush cleaner, thinners, thickeners, palettes, palette knives, and so on. There were many techniques that had to be learned, and a different product for each. It nearly broke the bank, but at least I had enough money, and thought I was through buying supplies.

THEN I went to the Graphic Design Class (My Major!). Each of us was handed a list of items right down to the brand names that we had to purchase in order to take the class. Everything from a drawing board, steel straight edge, Steel T-Square, Triangles, French Curves, Special coated paper in 1000 Industrial Colors, Matte Knives, X-acto Knives, blades, scissors, and a special ruler used for "spec-ing type". (Thank You, Mr. Gutenberg!) These items could be purchased in New York City. The only place that was nearer was in Cambridge MA, which, at the time was the last stop on the MBTA. I did NOT have a car. So I took what was left of my meager savings and schlepped over to Harvard Square (where for the last two years had played guitar in the sun on the "Common") and bought the required items. This broke the bank, and was a huge pile of stuff to bring home on the train (which required two changes and finally a bus) but I was very young then and a little nutty so I managed!

You may wonder what this has to do with today's Meditation. The beautiful Name we are looking at today is "God The Creator". One of the things that set humans apart from other creatures is that humans are CREATIVE. Other animals can be "clever", "smart" and even quite affectionate, but even the brilliant Border Collies who respond to different whistled melodies do not write melodies of their own. A spider may weave a beautiful, symmetrical, web that catches the dew, but only a human can take a picture of it with a camera and then post it on the Internet, with the camera, the computer, and the internet all being the products of some other human's creativity.

Perhaps this is what the Word of God means when it says that "God created Man in His Image". The creative spark that makes humans "special" in creation can only be from God Himself, and "in His Image."

The Name John uses for Christ in his Gospel is the Greek word "Logos". This Word (Translated "Word") means more than just that. It is a Thought, and Image, an Idea, and More that can't be described, so I won't even try! However a "LOGO" is English, is what Graphic Designers strive to create. A good "LOGO" is one that is instantly recognized, and tells us everything about the product or company. My first Graphic design job was to design a Log for a cement company, so it had to convey strength, durability, and permanence. It was NOT as easy as it sounds!

Finally, although humans are endlessly creative, nobody except God can make something out of nothing. (ex-nihilo in Latin). My bass student is a Graphic Design Major at the same college I attended. She does everything on a computer now, and did not have to schlepp to Cambridge to buy supplies. But...someone had to design that computer, someone had to devise the graphics software, someone had to gather and manufacture the plastics, metals, rare earths, and so on the actually BUILD the computer, and she still needs paper to print the finished product.

And, although I don't do too much graphic design anymore, I still play my guitar in the sun!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Wow...lots of typos today. (((SORRY!)))

I think I need a new keyboard. (Which I cannot make ex-nihilo! LOL.)

Thanks for a great story today! I've done a lot of schlepping on trains and totally connected with your shopping 'adventure'.

I like the Hebrew phrase for creatio ex nihilo: yesh me'ain, "something from nothing".

Here is a fantastic article that beautifully illustrates your topic today:

http://www.quantumtorah.com/creatio-ex-nihilo-and-the-number-theory/

I especially enjoyed the part about the Axiom of Existence. And then there's this:

Rabbi Eliyahu of Vilna (the Gra) once said that it is impossible to understand Torah without understanding science. At the very least, science and mathematics can provide vivid illustrations of highly abstract Torah concepts. Our ability to see supernal spiritual concepts reflected in this lowest of worlds is in itself a testimony to the fact that the physical world is but a small part of a greater universe composed of innumerable parallel levels of reality which all reflect the same unifying principle of creation.

Whoo-hoo, I've been vindicated! :)

Abstract Torah concepts, like a ladder to heaven firmly planted on the [horizontal] ground:

Perspective 101 is a vanishing point created from parallel lines. World/eternity (olam) - the meaning *is* a vanishing point. And Joseph's coat was a ketonet passim, a coat of stripes - passim - which is also the word for railroad rails. Trains, where DO they go?

Last night I was going back over the verse about Joseph's favored status and his coat. One thing that has always bugged me is the reason that he was the favorite:

Gen 37:3. Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age; and he made him a coat with long sleeves:

Why not because he was his beloved Rachel's son? That really seems to be the obvious reason in the totality of things.

Well why not, if the reasons are one and the same. Zakunim (old age) = 207 = ohr (light).

That rolls right back to Creation in Genesis 1 and the multiple allusions to Rachel in there. The end is wedged in the beginning and the beginning in the end.

Even more reason to connect if his old age involved a time a long time down the timeline track... at the place of the vanishing point, where the passim of Joseph's coat are touching yet not touching.

Joseph's favored status is mentioned before we read about Joseph's dream of the sun (Jacob) and moon (Rachel) and eleven stars, which in the short view (minus Rachel, for her soul had gone out but not yet returned) was fulfilled in Egypt.

Now if Joseph could find the pathway to erase the hatred of his own brothers by their own free will, which involved the revelation of total knowledge 22 years later, then Jacob could certainly have perceived that Joseph was the key to rectifying the hate of Esav, through Esav's own free will. Joseph's bones are the plotline of a great story!

Gen 30:24. And she called his name Joseph; and said, The Lord shall add to me another son:

Rachel saw in Joseph another son... it was the long view. No wonder Jacob and Rachel were quite the match. The result was Joseph.

And she called his name Joseph; and said, The Lord shall add to me another son:
Now
Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age;

Israel: the name given to Jacob when he prevailed over the sar of Esav, given to him by the sar of Esav himself.

At the outset, the Torah connects Jacob with Joseph. Of all his sons specifically Joseph holds the key to not only Jacob's but the family's mission.

Joseph + Edom = Joseph + David + Yechidah (the all inclusive soul of the Mashiach) = 207 = ohr

There was even a very important message from the moon delivered to earth on that date. That whole mission is a treasure trove of names and mathematical and visually symbolic evidences of

Our ability to see supernal spiritual concepts reflected in this lowest of worlds [which] is in itself a testimony to the fact that the physical world is but a small part of a greater universe composed of innumerable parallel levels of reality which all reflect the same unifying principle of creation.

See, I really *didn't* go off on a tangent. Then again, what's a tangent. :)

But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy. (Malachi 4:2 AMP)

Praying for Israel that they would identify the Sun of Righteousness.
