Because Christians don’t meditate? Because Christians don’t chant? Because Christians don’t assume ritualized physical postures?

They really don’t understand yoga.

It is a wonderful tool for spiritual cleansing, just as fasting is an excellent tool.

I hate to tell Christians who are closed minded, but the two hands folded together to pray is an ancient Hindu Mudra, used many many years before Jesus was born.

Yoga is basically a Hindu religious practice. But is there anything actually spiritual involved? It seems more physical than anything else.

This was previously stated by then-Cardinal Ratzinger in 1989, specifically referring to Yoga meditative practices (rather than Yoga as a physical exercise system) as well as Zen and TM, following a detailed study of the topic. Thomas Dubay discussed some of the problematic aspects of Eastern meditation for Catholics in his work on St. John of the Cross and St. Teresa of Avila, such as Fire Within, citing specific passages from St. Teresa that addresed similar practices in her time.

Every Yoga position is done to either mimic a Hindu God, allow for a spirit to enter you, or to allow your spirit to enter a different or higher plane. It is tied to the Chakras, Kundalini and other pagan practices.

Never heard of Euro-Malabar, but yes, yoga is NOT compatible with Christianity.
Here’s a good site:

Divorce, Gay, Abortion, Adultery, Islam ... compatible.

Movements that benefit and clean the body, that find a home in a traditionally peaceful religion ... incompatible.

We have much bigger problems than worrying about the compatibility of Yoga with Christianity. Personally, I find Yoga incompatible with my joints.

Tai-chi is superior to yoga and has none of the religious/meditative aspects that yoga does. Screw yoga. Tai-chi is the best form of exercise ever developed. It is also one of the most effective martial arts ever developed.
