The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined. For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them. He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity. His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net. He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones. He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.(Psalm 10:2-11)

The ninth and tenth Psalm go together. The Septuagint version of the Psalms has them as one Psalm. The ninth is broad and encompasses the entire world, the nations at the end of time, who have isolated and persecuted Israel, are visited and judged at the personal advent of King Messiah.

The tenth focuses on a specific world leader, called ‘The Wicked One’, and “the man of the earth”, who boldly blasphemes God and persecutes the people of God.

The earlier Psalms lead us up to an examination of the influence of this man, in the latter times. The second Psalm for example tells us that the Nations are in an uproar and the people of the earth are gripped by a “Vain Imagination” because of the “Kings of the Earth and their rulers” who have taken their counsel “Against the LORD and His Christ….”. The most High rebukes these misguided Kings, warning them of the coming of His own King, the Messiah.

In Psalm 5 a prayer for help is offered up in perilous times, and in a day of open and blatant wickedness. In spite of appearances in these evil days, God is righteous and faithful and will not allow the wicked to succeed, for He hates evil. In particular,

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.(Psalm 5:4-6)

The LORD hates “The bloody and deceitful man”, who is destined to arise as Israel’s and the church’s final adversary.

In the seventh Psalm The Psalmist prays for the “Wickedness of the wicked(One) to come to an end…”, and this world leader is called “the enemy and the avenger…” in the eighth Psalm.

This adversary of Israel and foe of all that fear God, is going to stand out for his pride. His arrogance will be staggering, yet other arrogant people steeped in Self esteem will see that as one of his strengths. The Wicked one will openly boast about his desires, ( He always seems to obtain what he lusts for), and will have good things to say to other lustful boasters who despise the LORD. (I think of Obama’s special concern for homosexuals, and other degenerates). That is what Anti-Christ will be like.

This evil man fears not God, nor does he regard men, and as Daniel also warned us, He does whatever he pleases to do. All of his thoughts are (lit) “No God!”,for he is the ultimate God rejector, the man of sin, who is very much a man of his times.

God teaches us that of we fear him and entrust ourselves to His care, we will never be moved. The Wicked One says that of himself, without any reference to God. He says “I will not be moved….I will never be in adversity”. This is why He has no restraint upon his tongue, he lies, boasts, curses and blasphemes…and other wicked people will love Him all the more for it! This man only puffs at the threatenings of his enemies.

We are warned in this Psalm of his treachery…He gains the confidence of his foes, He is a deceiver, and a murderer, a real son of the devil!(John 8:44).He sets traps for the innocent, putting out the bait, setting the snare and waiting, in his secret council for the time to move. When the village seems secure, He pounces like a lion.

The Wicked One, (soon to be revealed) can appear humble, and is winsome, while he lays his net out for the ones he viciously hates, putting laws in place, which have unseen secondary consequences, pleading “love” in the name of hate, While he prepares his “Strong Ones” for the day of persecution.

We have seen this in the changing of laws, (Gay marriage) which amount to well laid traps against Christians and people of conscience, to be sprung after the passage, in spite of the many protestations before these laws were passed, that “All we want to do is be fair to gay couples, we aren’t put to persecute anyone!”. The passage of abortion laws were similar, abortion was going to be safe, and rare, yet legal. Those who were opposed to Gay marriage or abortion were castigated as haters,, bigots and religious zealots.

The other webs being set by similar “leaders” revolve around the massive immigration of Islamic hordes. Of course they were doing this “for the children” and whats the matter with bringing refugees in, are we not a nation of immigrants? Those who oppose are of course bigots, and “afraid of widows and children”, and worse yet, “Haters”. Nothing was said about the demographic trap that has been set for the Western world, and the shift in the body politic, now that these scoundrels have created entire (dependent) constituencies through third world immigration!

If you think our current leaders are treacherous, shiftless, and cunning, wait until you see the man prophesied here in this Psalm! Daniel the prophet and John the apostle described this very foe, with his boasting, treachery, blasphemy, statecraft, and his war which he relentlessly wages upon the saints.

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If any man have an ear, let him hear.(Revelation 13:5-9)

This one does what He does because he has told himself that God isn’t relevant, (God doesn’t see…) therefore power is his only God, much like our current treacherous and amoral leaders. He is a product of his times, the man of lawlessness for an age of lawlessness.

Why does he wage war on Israel and the church? Because they are the only two witnesses to the contrary. Their existence in spite of much hatred and persecution remind the world that there is indeed a God who will one day summons all of the world to his throne for Judgment.

Excellent and thank you for posting. While I do indeed see the refugee crisis and subsequent importation of these masses whose culture is an antithesis of ours, as a coordinated compromise of Western Civilization, I recently was listening to a sermon Nabeel Quershi gave at Hebron Church, that in such, we are presented with an opportunity to reach out to them with the Good News of the bible.

It is a difficult challenge to take up, but how are we good servants if we do not?

You are absolutely right about that. We are seeing the deliberate destabilization of Western Civilization. It's purpose cannot be benign. Undoubtedly a puzzle piece in setting the stage for something significant.

But I am trusting in the Lord's plan for us all. Stay safe and please keep sharing these wonderful posts!
