Merseyside Police are not believed to have been involved in the incident, despite initial reports.

Doctors stopped provided life-support treatment to Alfie late on Monday.

His dad Tom Evans said his son had confounded specialists' expectations by continuing to breathe.

Alfie's parents have already lost two rounds of fights, in the High Court, Court of Appeal, Supreme Court and European Court of Human Rights.

Mr Justice Hayden ruled that doctors at Alder Hey could stop treating Alfie against the wishes of his parents following hearings in the Family Division of the High Court in London and Liverpool.

Specialists at Alder Hey said life-support treatment should stop and Mr Justice Hayden said he accepted medical evidence which showed that further treatment was futile.

Mr Justice Hayden said flying Alfie to a foreign hospital would be wrong and pointless.

Court of Appeal judges upheld his decisions, and then Supreme Court justices and ECHR judges refused to intervene.

Daily Star Online's exclusive poll revealed 92% of readers back Alfie Evans's fight for life.

His dad Tom has told ITV's This Morning his son is now being given food again after surviving for 36 hours without life support.

He said: " is doing still as well as he can. He's fighting. He's still not suffering and hasn't had any apneas or no sign of pain.

"He's sustained his life, like any other child would, for 36 hours. Totally unexpected of him.

"I believe I am getting closer (to getting him home). We would be happy with that."

He added: "But we would be more blessed to get him to Italy where he needs the treatment.

"He may need a tracheotomy, he may not. But at the moment he is showing he's still fighting and he's proved all the docs wrong and all the courts wrong.

"We were told he wouldn't last five mins but now here we are 36 hours down the line."

This is a testament to life.

> “What has happened to the UK?”

They, the courts and councils think they are above God, the creator of life.

The judge who ordered this can’t tell the difference between a man and a woman, so I guess he doesn’t know the difference between a dead child and a living one. These stupid bastards think they know what’s best for the rest of us.

“....These stupid bastards think they know what’s best for the rest of us....”

Truth to that!! The god-less, vile, insane libs here in the USA want the same thing for us in the USA. They want to control who lives and who dies. And you can bet your sweet azz IF you’re a God-fearing Christian, patriotic, conservative, you’ll get the “thumbs down” every time. At some point, we’re gonna have to deal with these evil insane bastards once in for all.

This is another reason why the left wants us disarmed. These death panels have been tried in the U.S. too.

Appeal to the Crown
Compare your child to their newest member, the royal baby
.....and what hypocrites they are!
This looks very bad for them

Keeping Alfie in prayer
APPEAL TO HEAVEN!

Depriving this baby of at least liquids (as he was for 36 hours) is horrendous!

Last July it was Charlie Gard. Less than a year later, the UK has condemned another child to death. It’s pretty sad when parents can’t even take their own children out of a hospital to seek treatment elsewhere, or even to take them home to die.

This is totalitarian. If, in the opinion of the docs, treatment is futile, I would defend the right of the hospital to halt treatment. He who pays the piper pays the tune. If you don't want a national healthcare bureaucracy making that decision, don't socialize the health insurance system. Have private insurance ... which means you will then get care until you reach the coverage limit of your policy, after which you will pay out of pocket. Fine with me. We should all own our own health insurance.

But there is absolutely no justification for refusing to let parents obtain further care at their own expense.
