Once Again, the Big Question: Can You Be Gay and Christian?
Christian Post ^ | 05/10/2018 | Michael Brown

Posted on 05/10/2018 9:43:28 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

It's the question I'm asked over and over again. It's the question that's dividing churches and separating family members. It's the question that must be answered: Can you be gay and Christian?

Well, if you claim to be a Christian, that means that Jesus is your Lord and the Bible is your authority, so the real question is: What does Jesus have to say about this? And what does the Bible – God's Word – have to say? That's what we need to find out.

Of course, we understand that every Christian struggles in some area, whether it be pride or anger or lust or jealousy or greed. But we also recognize that these desires and attitudes are sinful, and so we say No to them and Yes to the Lord.

In the same way, some Christians struggle with same-sex attractions, saying No to those attractions and Yes to the Lord. That's their area of temptation and battle.

But what about those who say, "God made me gay, and if I'm in a committed relationship, the Lord is pleased. After all God is love, and love wins. What the Bible opposes is abusive relationships, like homosexual pederasty and prostitution and promiscuity. That's what the Scriptures condemn. But the Lord blesses committed same-sex relationships."

Is this true?

There's only one way to answer this question. With humility, we must come to God and His Word and say, "Father, whatever You say, we will obey. We only want Your will."

So, what does God's Word have to say? Can you practice homosexuality and follow Jesus at the same time? And does God's Word

We've put together a 6-minute video that answers this head on, clarifying misunderstandings, dispelling myths, and offering hope.

Can you gay and Christian? You'll find your answers here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5l_GY6mXgQg) .

Put your life, as it is, on the altar. He accepts you as he finds you. He doesn’t, however, leave you as he finds you. Let him lead, let him rearrange the furniture in your life to suit himself. Don’t tell him what the end product has to look like; let him surprise you.

Absolutely you can be gay and Christian as long as you recognize and repent of your sin. What you cannot be is in your face God approves of my sin and so should you gay and Christian. We all sin. Christians repent turn to Christ and start over again Sometime multiple times a day. What Christians do not do is pretend God approves of their sin

Only sinners should be allowed to come to Christ or become Christians.

We are all imperfect. The only perfect Christian was crucified long ago.

We are all tempted to sin. Christianity gives us an opportunity and tools to improve, and ultimately to be saved.

“If you are unrepentant, no”

Agreed.

It would be no different to ask:
can you be an alcoholic...
can you be an adulterer...
can you be a porn addict...
or (gasp!) can you be a hater or a gossip or a backbiter...

...and be a Christian?

**Only sinners should be allowed to come to Christ or become Christians.**

After they receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance.

“Gay” is a behavior, Not a state of mind. Now I will admit that behaviors define us, but it is still a behavior.

Can you be a drunk and a Christian?
Can you be a fornicator and a Christian?
Can you cheat on your wife and be a Christian?

Etc.....................

Sinners can and should turn to Christ and repent at any time in any place period. Just as they are with no need of a ceremony by your sect. Christ said “come to me” not come to me after you have participated in an approved ceremony of a Roman sect that hasn’t even been invented yet.

Well, that won’t work for those ones; they think they’re a race, what with their equating their “rights struggles” with those of blacks and all. They won’t stop calling their lust “love”.

Can one be a sinner and be Christian? Most of us know the answer to that one.

Can you be having pre-marital sex and be Christian? Can you watch R rated movies and be Christian? Can you break the speed limit and be Christian?

i.e. can you sin and be Christian?

Absolutely you can be gay and Christian

Ah, but who are you? Can you really be both?

You are one or the other, not both. Love the sinner, hate the sin has no meaning for a “gay” person because the ARE the sin. There is no separation.

Now the next question to the “gay” is to ask is it a sin.

There is a big difference between being gay and Christian vs being a sinner and Christian. I will let the reader think about that.........................

I so agree. We all have temptations, whether it be to speed, run red lights, cheat on our taxes, cheat on our spouses, etc. The key to Christian living is recognizing that even once you've come to a point of faith in Jesus, your old 'self' doesn't magically go away. It takes years to develop and nurture a relationship with God based on one's love for Him.
